Voltage regulator on a 1985
It could be in any one of 4 places. If your alternator is made by Chrysler or Bosch the car will have either an external regulator mounted on the right inner fender or in the power/logic module. If your alternator is Bosch or Mitsubischi it has an internal regulator. If the regulator is on the inner fender or screwed to the back of the alternator (Bosch) they are easily replaceable. The Bosch one only needs the screws undone and it comes off. The internal regulator needs to have the alternator taken apart to change the regulator.
Sorry if this sounds confusing but maybe this is why Chrysler was in trouble in the 80's. Hope this helps.

How do you take wires
Hello Vinny.
The end of the wires have a split type clip that expands when you push them into the cap.
To remove them properly you need to remove the cap and squeeze the clips in gently and tug the wire.
If you are changing the wires it would be a good idea to replace the cap and rotor at the same time anyway.
If you would like further assistance with this question, please ask me in comments. Be glad to help.
Thank you for using Fixya.

My 2.2 engine was just rebuilt. the mechanic is
Hello
Cam timing, duration and lobe depth all play a role with vaccum. If the guy who rebuilt it
thinks the cam is bad then personally I would trust him and let him redo the cam. To make
a long and complex answer short. If the valves dont open at the right time for the correct
amount of time, bad things happen.
I wish you the best sir.
