Witch way are the cooling fans on a 1997 dodge

The fans should be sucking air in from the front of the car, not blowing air out the front.

What causes a battery drain

How old is the battery? Is there any aftermarket alarms or stereos installed? And are the cables clean and tight? If the battery is new and the cables are tight you have a parasitic drain. you need a DMM, disconnect negative terminal and place one lead on cable, one on post. Set DMM to amps and compare reading to man. specs usually between 20 to 50 milliamps. If out of spec disconnect one fuse at a time looking for a fall in the reading and that will tell you what circuit has the issue

1997 neon will not shift into gear but the shifter

Look under the hood drivers side on the top of the transmission you will see two cables, these are the shift cables, the bushings on these usually wear over time and the ends of the cables will fall off, the only option is remove the center console, and replace the cables, or use some zip ties or mechanics wire to tie them on temporary, good luck and please rate, or leave feedback

What kind oil goes in a 1997 dodge neon 3 speed

  • Here are the factory specs.

  • If the temperature in your area is mostly above 0 degrees the a 10W-30 is recommended.
  • If your climate is below an average below 32 degrees then 5W-30 is recommended.

  • Basically if you live in an area that is frigid most of the time a 5W30 would be recommended. If the climate where you live is a little warmer than a 10W30 is recommended --- Conventional is what's in the book but a Semi Synthetic or full Synthetic will be fine to so long as you stick with one type of oil. The brand is up to you but I prefer Quaker State,

My Clutch cable broke Dodge

i have done one a couple of years back but i cannot remember much now but i do know it wasnt difficult but after changing the cable i discovered the reason it broke --you needed a lot of pressure to push it down which meant the clutch needed changing which i advised the customer but he traded the car in.Follow your nose on this as i know it was failry easy to do i hooked the end into the clutch pedal and then just connected the other end and adjusted it i dont remember any auto adjustment like a ford escort or mondeo but to be honest at my age i forget what i had for breakfast .

Same problem as the one

check the connectors on the Dash and make sure you don't have a loose connector. This type of problem is usually very simple or Very Expensive. The simple one would be a bad connection or short. The expensive one would be having to replace the ECM or Dash Cluster itself.

Chek ingen code p0171

Trouble code P0171 means: Fuel System Lean (Bank 1)

The "lean condition" code is set when the long-term fuel trim value reaches a certain setpoint, +14% if I remember right. Whatever is going on, the PCM thinks the car is running lean. It could be a faulty O2 sensor (or the wiring), a fault in one of the other sensors that are used for the fuel trim calculations (IAT, MAP, TPS, coolant temp, battery temp, rpm, or any of the wiring associated with those), or an actual lean condition caused by a problem with one of the fuel delivery devices (fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injector, or any of the wiring or tubing associated).

2001 dodge neon code 1490,

Hi
In the first place replace the coolant if it is old as it looses it properties over a period of time. Check out if the radiator fins are clean or you can clean them using a blower /water hose from the engine side. Take care to cover the engine area with a plastic sheet. Try this when the engine is cool. If this dosent solve the problem you need to seek further advice.
Regards.
PLZ. dont forget to rate my suggestion.

Hello
WAS THE FUEL FILTER REPLACED? PULL THE FILTER AND SEE IF YOU CAN BLOW THROUGH IT, EVEN IF IT IS NEW IT MAY HAVE GOTTEN CLOGGED BY DEBRIS IN THE LINE. ALSO ARE THE INJECTORS DELVERING FUEL TO THE CYLINDERS? DOES IT START IF YOU SPRAY STARTING FLUID INTO THE AIR CLEANER. DID YOU PUT IN AT LEAST 5 GALLONS OF FUEL TO PROPERLY PRIME THE NEW PUMP?

Have a 1997 dodge neon

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
If that's the case then you might want to consider PCM (power train control module) replacement. The PCM is that vehicle's computer that when it's faulty something will surely fail. One good reason why you are having this issues.

My 1997 Dodge Neon heats

My neon would be bubbling in the resevoir when I stoped, I replaced the radiater, thermostate, hoses,
and it was still doing it? Finaly replaced the radiater cap and that solved the problem! Also you could have air in the system too? here is how to purge your system. Make sure your car is cooled down so you won't get burned, take off you radiater cap, Drain your antifreeze out of your radiater at the cockpit, about a gallon, close your cockpit, Jack the front end of your car up high so the radiater is higher than the thermostate housing, have a funnel ready to pour your antifreeze back in at the radiater cap throat, roll your windows down, and turn you heater on high! start your engine and slowly pour you
antifreeze back in untill full, when you start seeing it start to come out and can't get anymore in put your new radiater cap on, let the car run for 20 minutes with heater on high, after your fans kick on and stop, when engine is warmed up, turn your car off. Lower your car and check to make sure resivoir is at full mark. I hope this helps it worked for me!
