Weak spark + 1988 ford bronco
check the voltage of the b+ terminal of the ignition coil (primary side) with a cheap multimeter while cranking. low voltage to the primary will cause low voltage on the secondary. also recheck all ground paths from the ignition module. ensure good connection from coil to module. note: new parts are not "known good parts" until it runs.--> IG.MOD.

Minimum compression is 100 psi @ 200
rpm. The lowest cylinder reading should not be less than 80% of the
highest reading. Perform the compression test with engine at normal
operating temperature, spark plugs removed and throttle wide open.
Normally I look for about 170 psi to 180 psi.
Need to locate fuel filter
I want to say its located on the drivers side frame. Best thing to do is buy a Chilton's or Haynes manual for your Bronco. It has tons of info on how to do stuff to your Bronco. Might be your fuel pump. That's located in the fuel tank.

1986 Ford Bronco 4v ho motor starts fine when its
Do you have points and (condenser) ? old school distributer condenser will do this and the coil if not your choke could be sticking and flooding temprature is a clue it use to be common for the engine to warm up and then the starter selonoid would get hot and not turn the engine over fast enough.bad starter selonoid just a thought ?
Do I need a heat shield on the starter of 85 bronco
If the heat shield is between the exhaust and starter its there for a reason and will help protect the starter from excessive heat. If the heat shield doesn't protect anything else like wiring and plugs ect. it wont make much difference short term but my experience is usually that manufacturers put things like that on for a reason and its best to put back when possible.
I have a 1973 ford bronco with a c4 automatic transmission It was setting out in weather and i pulled it in garage with another vehicle and got running then shifted into gear and it wont go forward or
The pump on the front of the Trans might have went did you check the filter also when you start the truck check the fluid level while it's running in park maybe there's not enough fluid in it even though it's clean if there's not enough in it the filter pick up tube can't pull in fluid and nothing circulating will be the result also is that the original dipstick to tell the right level if not your low on fluid but the pump in the front turns from the torque convertor rpms from the motor and there's also a modulator operated by vacuum check that to and the linkage I can only guess because I am maybe 2,500 miles away and I am assuming that you pushed it with another vehicle and again if your checking the fluid and your not on level ground your getting a false reading especially if the truck is facing downwards at the nose the stick will read full but it's not and the filter can't draw the fluid in also check for a clogged line or a bent line that's not letting the fluid pass through and maybe with compressed air you can push out the clog or change the line I am extremely interested in this problem so I want you to keep a list of everything your doing so I can narrow down what's possibly happening and you must be specific as to your progress and results take your time working and also when you post your next one think clearly about what you are posting all of us here want to help you but we are not there so you have to be the transmitter of the correct info ok I'm a taxi mechanic in nyc with 50+years of experience and I will be here to help you get through it to the final fix a few more things before I go back to a transmission reassembly you said you pulled the line did you do both of them disconnected from the radiator if not the cooler in the radiator maybe clogged also from a corroded radiator lastly how much mileage is on the truck?how long did it sit outside 1,2,3 years months ?is this the original tranny in the truck?miles? I really think the pump went but you must check all things referred to by me it could be something and not the Trans itself and we don't want to find out later after you spent big $$$$$$$SO go slow and right everything down as you check ok I am hoping what was described in the easy stuff is what's wrong do all easy stuff first but your trucks a 73 it's now 45 years old from production in 72 so if there's a real lot of mileage that pump might well be gone and you have to pull the Trans to take it out can you? I'm going back to my work now good luck and post back tonight with progress ok I hope it's a simple fix stephen
Have 91 Ford Bronco with
I just sold my bronco and I wish I had it back. The Ford ECU is very reliable And rarely needs to be changed. When encountering drive ability problems, always start with the cheapest fixes first. 1) Air filter 2) Fuel filter 3) Coolant temp.sensor 4) Possibly Throttle position sensor. Then add 1 can of B&G44K fuel additive to full tank of 91 octane fuel. This additive is the best on the market (Do not substitute). The B&G will Absorb water (ethanol) and condition aging fuel pump and clean injectors. Everything I just listed is 1/2 what you paid for the ECU. Do an ODBII test and delete stored faults (Codes) and retest for any new faults . When running properly, this 5.8 engine should be close 13 MPG. The next cheapest fix will be the oxygen sensor. Be sure to check The OBDII .
