2001 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Triton v10 firing order
Regarding the 2000 6.8 Triton. Following this diagram I pulled out the plug in cylinder 3 since code says mis fire on #3, the motor I'm working on is from a 2000 f350 with 115k on it, when I pulled out the plug theres a thin piece of paper came out with the plug its about 3/4 x 3/4 inches long stamped on it says cyl #5, the unusual type of paper feels like it's composed of Mica and something else which mics' blocks arcing so I'm thinking this little mica paper is from factory and this cylinder is actually number 5 and not 3 as diagram indicates. Best to do some research before following this since plugs and coils a real pita in these. Please advise if anyone else has experience a problem with this or if maybe this isn't for the 6.8 thanks
Ford f250 stalls when driving down the road,
What year... What engine? need info..... If it is a diesel with 7.3 L engine it is most likely the cam sensor. When it cranks does the tack work? that is another sign of a cam sensor It is on the front of the engine just to the right of the harmonic balancer top side. Replace it with a black one. Also could be in your IPR if diesel.
7.3 power stroke acts like it running out of fuel
have you had it on a scan toll? did throw a code? it sounds like your sucking air into the system through a rubber boot from the aftercooler. as far as throttle response have you had the injectors checked?
How to by pass fule pump
turn you key on but don't crank engine you should hear a grunt GRrrrr that is the pump! no grrrr unt no pump!
2001 F-250 Super duty V-10 small amount of oil in radiator
oil in a radiator indicates that the transmission oil cooler in the radiator tank has failed and leaking transmission oil into the radiator
there are 2 possible fixes
fix one is a new radiator
fix 2 is to give the radiator oil cooler a miss altogether and opt foe an air cooler mounted in front of the radiator
the advantages here are that the radiator then has a bigger capacity to handle the engine heat as there is no hot transmission oil adding to the engine heat
the second advantage is that the transmission oil is being cooled to ambient temp and not engine temp which makes for longer transmission oil life
the disadvantage is that it cost a bit more than a radiator initially but the long term savings are real
oil to air oil coolers are available from auto transmission shops and quality auto spares shops
2001 f250 4x4 fuse number?
Check fir worn cv axles some times when off the gas will makes noise as will bad wheel bearings both easy to check... But possibly based on miles uout transfer case may be worn or need service.. Front end work can often rid if these odd noises.. 2001 not that old would chrck for codes see if input, output sensors on trans ot transfer case needs service.. Many time can take sensor out remove metal shavings as the sensor most of the time is manget as things wear dowm sensors sometimes dont respond as they should.. But take look at axles if there play due to age the may hum whem coasting... Check blog got common problems to your vehicle they all seem to have samr general problems with age.. From make to model see what others but be careful with YouTube has more not too do s
I have a 2000 f250 5.4 it will turn over but not
i got new pcm to ???? Was it programmed ? Dealer !
checked senors 5 an 7 are the ones that ive found to be the promblem ?????????? What are sensors 5 & 7 ?

A3 IDENTIFY TYPE OF NO START
NOTE: The purpose of this Test Step is to identify intermittent No Starts in order to guide the technician to the proper repair procedure. Does the vehicle start now?
Yes
No
Vehicle is an intermittent No Start. GO to Z2 .
Natural gas vehicles:
KEY OFF. GO to HA47 .
All others:
KEY OFF. GO to A4 .
A4 CHECK VREF VOLTAGE TO THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR
- Disconnect TP sensor.
- Key on, engine off.
- Measure voltage between VREF and SIG RTN circuit at the TP sensor harness connector. GO to Pinpoint Test DH to refer to the schematic.
Is voltage between 4.0 and 6.0 volts?
Yes
No
KEY OFF. RECONNECT TP sensor. GO to A5 .

A6 CHECK PIP IN THE PCM
Note: The scan tool must be connected to a reliable power source that is powered with the key in the START position (such as directly to the vehicle battery). Also verify that the vehicle battery is fully charged.
- Access PIP PID.
- While viewing the PIP PID, crank engine.
Is the PIP PID switching on and off?
Yes
