srs airbag light is on on my 99 pontiac grand prix

when i crank my 99 grand prix the srs airbag light stays on and the seat belt light comes on every now and again

If the seat belt light comes on intermittently with the belt buckled, it may have a bad switch in the buckle or a loose connection @ the switch. This may also set a diagnostic trouble code in the srs control module & keep the srs airbag light on.

1999 Pontiac Grand Prix Overheating

I can only drive my car 2-3 miles and the temp guage red lines out, as well as the temp light comes on. I have replaced the temp sensor, thermostat, and have checked the water pump and after replacing and checking all none have been the problem. I checked the temp of the motor with my hand after driving it for 2 miles and the motor did not feel hot but the radiator hose was warm. And pulling into my apartment complex after those 2 miles the car felt like it was starting to lose power and I could tell that the lights were quite dim. I had a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT and the temp light came on and I ended up seizing the motor in it. I don't want this to happen to this car and I need I figure out the problem before it gets any worse, or if it's already to late.

I had trouble with overheating on my 2000 Grand Am, The dealer could not even resolve the issue,(they wanted to replace the intake gaskets)...I knew that was not the issue, no air leaks or water leaking there; so I sit down to think; what are the causes of overheating. Thermostat sticking - nope not it, water circulates, Water leak - nope not it, has water stays until it gets too hot and goes out overflow, fans working - yep...hummmm the only other thing I could think of was losing of water pressure, yep that's it - the cap on the coolant tank was going bad, got a new cap ($8.00) replaced the old one and no more trouble going on 6 months now.

Hope this may solve your issue.

First thing to try - open your hood and look near your air filter. In between your air filter and your engine there will be a few electrical plugs. One will be your VAF or MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor). Check to make sure that the electrical plugs are on good. Don't be afraid to give them a little pull, and push them on tightly. If this does not fix it, check out the video below. It's for a Jeep, but your car may be a similar procedure. It tells you how to clean the sensor. I put some more technical information about how a MAF sensor works below, in case you are interested. Warning - technical information ahead! The mass air flow (MAF) sensor is an air flow meter that measures the amount of air entering the engine. The powertrain control module (PCM) uses the MAF sensor frequency signal in order to provide the correct fuel delivery for a wide range of engine speeds and loads. A small quantity of air entering the engine indicates a deceleration or idle. A large quantity of air entering the engine indicates an acceleration or high load condition. The MAF sensor has an ignition 1 voltage circuit, a ground circuit and a signal circuit. The PCM applies a voltage to the sensor on the signal circuit. The sensor uses the voltage in order to produce a frequency based on inlet air flow through the sensor bore. The frequency varies within a range of around 2,000 Hertz at idle to about 10,000 Hertz at maximum engine load. DTC P0103 sets if the PCM detects a frequency signal higher than the possible range of a properly operating MAF sensor. car dud

Blower motor not working on 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT. Recently all climate controls stopped working. I can hear the fan kick on, but nothing else happens. AC and heat both worked perfectly until that point. Now - nothing. I'm guessing it's the blower motor. Where is it located and is it reasonably easy to get to and replace? It's been a great car, but with the miles I have on it (212,000 and counting) I'm not sure I want to take it into the shop for a costly repair if it's something I can do myself.

The blowers vary greatly relative to accessibility; some are back-breakers and only removable from under the dashboard. Make sure you don't have a blown fuse or failed relay; neither of these are costly and both easy to replace. On the relays, there are often multiples of the same part number which allows for swapping to check for operation. They will have a part number that you can compare so you are sure you are putting the same part where it belongs when swapping.
> I can hear the fan kick on, but nothing else happens.
I assume you mean the cooling fan under the hood, not the AC/heater blower.
Most often, the blower will continue to function on the highest speed setting and this common problem is caused by the failure of a special stepped (tapped) resistor that is used to 'waste' some of the voltage therefore changing the speed of the blower.
I recommend that everyone have a cheap multimeter at home since these are now under $20 US and let any layman do some electrical checking without paying an expert. Such a meter can be had at Radio Shack or any auto parts store and are easy to use. Having one of these, you can often ferret out problems such as yours quite quickly and they are handy around any home as well.

hang engine, remove cradle from the car, and if youa re crafty, lower the trans end of the drivetrain enought to get the side cover off. BE SURE to replace the EPC solenoid as well. These wear out and hang up. They are next each other. One big (EPC) and the smaller below it (TCC/PWM)

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Lower the coolant level a bit.
  3. Follow the top radiator hose to the thermostat housing.
  4. I would just leave the hose on for this thermostat and go right to removing the two mounting bolts.
  5. Pull the housing up and clean the gasket off bothe sides of the gasket real well. Becarefull not to gouge the aluminum.
  6. Install the thermostat with the little "tip" facing up.
  7. Now put the new gasket and a little sealer on it too.
  8. Reverse the previous steps to finish the installation.
  9. When you get the antifreeze full remember to burp the system with that little bleeder valve on top.
