Dodge ram 50.....2 wheel drive, shooting fuel up
sounds like a leaking inlet valve broken valve spring/ faulty valve/lifter prob. or a worn out camshaft if the exhaust cam has worn out the compessed gas cant escape so when the inlet valve opens the internal cylinder pressure blows back in to the inlet maifold if it was me i would do a cylinder compression test first that should help you to isolate the cylinder thats at fault
How to remove hose at back of engine
If you are referring to a spring clip type of clamp, then you need a pair of regular and fine nose pliers, squeeze the clamp to its open position and work it away from the point where it is securing the hose, i.e. work it down the hose. Then once clear, a little elbow grease and pull the hose free.
Will run only by squiring fuel into carb.
Hi Del:
Sounds like you're well on the way to solving this.
There is a fuel delivery problem to deal with.
Either:
- the carb is gummed up,
- the filter is plugged, or
- the fuel pump is on vacation.
With the top of the carb exposed, look into the barrel(s) and pump the throttle linkage. The accelerator pump will squirt gas that you should be able to see. If there is gas, that should mean that the fuel pump is working, and the problem will possibly be blocked carb jets. A carb cleaning would be in order.
No gas?
- Check the fuel filter
- Check fuel pump
My guess from personal experience would be the fuel pump.
Replace crankshaft seal
Front one isn't bad. Remove the belt/s. Remove the harmonic balancer. pry the seal out and replace it using a hammer. be nice to it. The rear seal, pull the transmission. pull the flywheel. remove the seal and be nice to it putting it back in.
Starter turns motor but wont start
The 1989 model is wired differently from the 1990 model. So this is for the 89 model only. You should have about 10 volts to the coil from a ballast resistor which gets power from the key switch. The ground side of the coil is handled by the distributor. Is the coil getting power from the key switch ?
I put new timing chain and gears on dodge d 50 2.6 and have no compression
you have the engine out of timing. take the timing belt off and roll the engine untill the number one cylinder is at top dead center (tdc) and then set your camshaft to where the intake valve is open on the number one cylinder. after that take the timing belt and put it on and your engine should run good.
