I am chaning a water pump on my 5.9 litre 1996
on some autos, the bolt that is behind the fan turns the opposite direction to loosen, try this , and see what happens, but you will still need the proper tool to hold the pulley from turning.

if someone said it was exhaust - they could have meant the catalytic converter is melted or plugged- easy to verify- unbolt exhaust in front of converter and try starting- will be very loud- if does not help- then try fuel filter,plugs and wires

we see this a lot, you have either broken a froward planetary gear or have lost the froward line pressure in the transmission, you will need to replace the transmission, our shop replace 2 last week for the same problem....sorry

Could be as simple as low transmission fluid, but it can also be your shift solenoids or gonked up valve body. Star with checking your transmission fluid level. On that vehicle its pretty simple. There should be a yellow dipstick. Vehicle needs to be on and on operating temperature. Gear selector in P or N. Pull the dipstick out and see what it reads.

There is no external feul pump, it is in the feul tank.Also there is no external feul filter, it is in the tank at the bottom of the feul pump assembly.I owned one of these trucks and was not pleased by the location of the feul filter either.If you can find a CARTER supplier they make a cheaper replacment that is same quality as oem.Good luck!

I think it would be a good idea to take the vehicle for a tune, and ask them to take particular notice of the ignition timing. Once adjusted correctly I believe that will sort out the problem for you

I hooked my truck up
If it is your throttle position sensor it will be located on the throttle body.This sensor tells the Control Module the position of the throttle plate to adjust fuel air mixture accordingly.It is held on by 2 screws and a connector.Remove the screws and disconnect the connector.I would also recommend that you have it tested by your local service station for proper operation before replacing it since they are a little pricey.
Where is thhe fuel filter located?
most likely it is on the underside of the vec most the time just below the drivers door just follow your fule line and you will find it 9 out of 10 times its on the underside of the vec along the frame
