1985 dodge pick up that cranks but won't start
Need to have the basics: air, fuel, fire. Does carb shoot gas down carb barrel when you pump the throttle? Do you have a good spark when turning over? Air you should have. Pull a spark plug or two and see if they're wet. Leave one out, connected to plug wire, and have base well grounded, crank it and see if you've a good spark (no gas fumes around when you do this!). Make sure plug wires are going to the right plugs.
How do you replace the interior door handle on a 1985 Dodge Ram pickup?
Sounds to me like its the bar that is attached to the outside door handle button. usually the 2 handles (in and out) operate using 2 different devices which are hooked to the door latch. The inside handed uses a cable and the out side uses push rods. You will have to remove the door panel first then you see what I`m talking about , be easy with the panel so you don`t break the plastic clips that hold it to the door though. I must warn you this is a real pain in the rear so unless your up for a challenge spend the money and take it to some one that does this type work........good luck..
1985 Dodge Ram runs rough and stalls at idle.
There is a carb problem as you discribe it runs too rich and when it warms up some the engine can't handle all that extra fuel and stalls. Blows black smoke out the exhaust? do the exhaust manfolds leak at the cylinder head connection and or worse is the manifold cracked? The EGR valve sounds possible as the valve being partly open will make it do what you say. A thin peice of medal can be cut with sissors and put between the EGR and it's manifold and then tighten down will stop that leak. If it runs good then replace the EGR , or run it like that if you don't have to face a safty lane inspection. The PCV valve can do this too and or a hole or crack in it's hose. Remove it from the vale cover and let it hang in the end of the hose. If it runs OK now the oil has been gassed when you were having you carb trobles and as the oil heats up it fumes enoght to make the engine choke on the extra fumes of fuel. You don't nee to change the plugs if you don't want to but you should check them and maybe tourch them off with a propane tourch to clean off soot and other grime that comes from a motor thats not running right. Bet gas in the oil. Fuel pump can leak gas into the oil also. More oftem than you might think and still work.
How do you replace a fuel pump on a 85 dodge d50
Um if your engine is fuel injection then fuel pump could be locate inside the fuel tank. you will need to take fuel tank off to get that fuel pump out from top of tank. If its not fuel injection then fuel pump could be locate in right side engine block, all you need to unbolt 2 of them. and closed the fuel line with paper towel or something to plug in.. then change the pump.
Leaking manifold
cracks in most cases you should be able to see. My suggestion would be take it off and get a good look at it...some cracks will show a white ook around them or maybe even burnt black look. I have seen both.. In most cases it is gasket or bolt loose or broke......
