1995 Buick Riviera Questions & Answers
How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 buick
Place Jack under engine with wood to hold it up. Remove uper engine mount(leave loose in engine compartment. Loosen pulley bolts. Remove belts. Remove alternator bolts and lift out of the way for easy access to power steering bolts. Remove 2 power steering bolts using access holes in pulley. You should be able to accessall of the water pump bolts now by moving things out of the way as you go. The two larger bolts toward the radiator can be accessed through the two holes in the motor mount ( you will need a short socket on a 1/4" drive rachet). You should be able to get the pump off now. Installation is much easier than removal.
Ignition switch would start but would not lock
The ignition key cylinder in a Buick
unlocks the ignition and allows the Buick's engine to start. The
cylinder contains a switch on the end of it (inside the cylinder) that
sends an electric signal to the starter motor. When the ignition key
cylinder fails, the Buick won't start. When this happens, you'll need a
new ignition cylinder. Purchase replacement cylinders from Buick.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You'll Need:
-
Ignition key
-
Punch pin
-
Cross-point screwdriver
-
1
Remove the screws on the bottom of the steering column on
your Buick. These screws hold the steering column cover on. You may need
to tilt the steering wheel to its highest position to access these
screws.
-
2
Turn the ignition key to the "II" position in the ignition cylinder.
-
3
Slide the punch pin into the access slot on the bottom of the ignition cylinder.
-
4
Push the pin all the way into the access slot while you pull the ignition cylinder out of the steering column.
-
5
Insert the new ignition cylinder into the steering column with the key in the "II" position on the cylinder.
-
6
Push the cylinder into the column until it "clicks," indicating that it is locked into the column.
-
7
Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position.
Serpentine belt on a 3800 supercharger
there should be a decal under the hood somewhere that shows the belt routing. if its gone you can probably go to the library and find a book of your car that will show the routing and you can either draw a picture or take a photo of it.
What's the easiest way to replace the fuel pump in
go into trunk and remove the trunk liner just behind the seats.....pull it towards the back of the car to remove.....look for a metal plate on the passenger side with several screws in it.....this is the access panel for the fuel pump....in the 95 riviera you do not have to drop the tank as the manual says......remove panel, disconnect ring that holds pump, disconnect lines and remove carefully......reverse to install....
Security lockout reset /1995 Buick riviera
The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. (Theft Deterrent Module) The TDM is what tells your computer that the correct key is being used and that it is "OK" to allow the vehicle to start and run. These 3 parts must be in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending important signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, (normally due to a failing/broken part) the car goes into antitheft mode. The car misinterperates this and thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is NOT getting that signal from YOUR specific key. There is where the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. So basically, if that light is on, your system has some sort of failing part. This can start as an intermittent "no start", to your vehicle not running for days at a time, to the vehicle NEVER starting again. The problem is electrical and computer based, so don't count on an easy reset button, or the problem fixing itself. The hard part is isolating which part is the problem. You can spend a thousand dollars through a mechanic very easily. I have had great luck with bypassing the entire system. This way the problem will never return. It actually CAN'T ever return because it is eliminated. This can also be done yourself at a much cheaper cost. Read through this link very carefully. You'll find alot of information and pictures, along with ways to help you fix this.

How to bypass the rear self leveling kit on a 95 buick riviera
sounds like the shocks are done. Air lifting shouldn't make it more bouncy - bad shocks do that. Also you should check out the bushings that hold the rear wheels on and in place. If the rear shifts side to side when it bounces is may not only be the shocks are done - rear wheels could be going out of 'alignment' from their normal resting place and 'steering' the rear end from side to side.
Horn does not work on 1995 Riviera
Buying a lemon is a real risk at auction and lots of professionals get caught so don't feel too bad - as long as the price was right and you learn from your mistake.
The horn circuit probably has a problem. Unless wind-tones are fitted the horn circuit is fairly simple and if it isn't possible to sort it simply then simply rewire it.
There are basically two circuits and it is important not to confuse them. The traditional circuit uses a two terminal horn with a supply to one terminal and the other going to a horn push that simply grounds the circuit to sound the horn. In the case of twin horns there might be a relay involved.
In the other circuit the horn push is a switch that provides a supply to the horn that might have a single terminal and internal grounding or it might have two terminals and a separate ground and again a relay might be involved.
In the case of twin horns there is a high note and a low note tuned so the total noise is greater than double the noise a single horn makes.
Air ride not working
Is there power at the compressor? If not, check the level switch located at the rear of the vehicle (connects the rear axle to the body via a small arm that moves with body up/down motion)
Does this vehicle have a ETCSElectronic Throttle Control Systemfuse?
Replace air filter if you have trouble using car, Check your owners manual and see if your vehicle has this fuse (ETCS) Electronic Throttle Control System fuse. Replace if blown, if no book the dealer should tell you what u want but ask to speak to part depatment i find them easier to deal with good luck.
