Bed news there is a chain in some of the Dodge transfer cases.
Chances are that it has stretched or broken.
Check some of the transfer case oil for metallic bits.
use a magnet near the drain plug to try and fish some out.
If you see metal pieces the chain is damaged.the chain is like a timing chain.
Auto question,I have an 96 Dodge Ram w/ 5.2L V8
I would check the injector. Pull the plug and check for corrosion. Use on ohm meter to check the injector. The resistance should be 11 to 15 ohms. Check it against another injector. they should be close. You can also check the injector plug. best to use is a noid light, but you can use the meter. set it to dc volts to check. the numbers should jump everytime it fires. since you got a 300 and 301 misfire it tells me that you have an intermitant misfire in cylinder 1. The other sensors are still good don't replace them. The coil is still good, because when it starts to go, it will have misfires on all cylinders or will not work at all. The crank sensor is the one that detects the misfire, again don't replace it because it's not bad, it's just doing it's job. If the injector and harness check out good then I would start check the cylinder for compression and mechanical problems
My dodge is a 1996 dodge ram 1500 with a 3.9 v6.
intermittent lean condition may be caused by leaking intake manifold gaskets. Get some carb cleaner and start the truck. Open the hood and spray carb cleaner on the intake manifold gaskets. If the engine reacts at all, you have a gasket leak. If you have questions, please let me know.
How do i a line a transmission to reinstall
If this is a manual transmission you must have a clutch alignment tool to install the clutch and then the splines will align with the trans input shaft. If this is an automatic trans you have to eyeball your right, left, up, down position of the trans and sometimes you can use guide bolts on each side to guide it in. Hope that helps any questions do not hesitate to ask.
The truck runs fine until it warms up and then it
Start with the basics. Any codes? If not then its just narrowing down the usual suspects. Spark plugs and wire. Air filter, fuel filter. Distibutor cap and rotor. Dirty injectors. Any of these can cause your problem. Any smoking? If so, a blown plenum gasket on the intake manifold can cause this issue. The plenum gasket is common to fail in these rams. Hope this helps.

Try changing your oil sending unit. If it still does it after that you may have some oil pressure issues

Check All your fuses, you may have blown the fuse for the ECM, since you have no Spark, and no Fuel... You also may have a short with in an electrical circuit, IF THE FUSE IS BLOWN....Goodluck..
I have a 1996 dodge ram 1500, and when I turn on
not one hundred percent on this but if it uses vacuum to control the selector doors then u may want to check your vacuum source and if there is vacuum u may want to have your control head tested.
