Probably your alternator.....Test with the car running and battery fully charged.....Use a multimeter.....battery should be over 14v....if not have alternator checked out

have someone shift the transfer case switch while you tap on the motor on mounted to the transfer case tap not hit

I HAVE A 1989 F150 4X4 WITH 5.0 LITER AND A 5 SPEED TRANNY AND ALL THE SUDDEN THE SHIFTER STARTS FEELING LIKE ITS NOT WANTING TO GO INTO GEARS PROPERLY AND ITS HITTING THE DASH NOW WHEN I TRY TO PUT IT IN FIRST GEAR AND 5TH GEAR IS KINDA SWIRLY FEELING ALSO WHATS WRONG WITH THIS TRUCK ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN WITH THE REPAIR OF THIS TRANNY

You don't say which engine and that of course is crucial to getting the direct info on the routing. You can access the diagrams from the DAYCO belt routing booklet at this link, please allow time for it to download, it is a large pdf file.

If its 2wd, there are no driveshafts. check the sway bar links/ and bushings,

is there any noise in the transmission or transfer case or the diff.Does it run ok in fwd. gears???possible sticking servos ,bad valve body,clutches bands in the trans

You may have wheel bearing issues or if you have a 4x4 the u-joints on the front axle may be needing some attention. I would start by inspecting both for signs of wear and replace them if necessary. This is pretty straight forward mechanical work but get a repair book for your specific truck and read up on both procedures before starting. I use Chilton for my vehicles and it seems to be one of the best with to the point information.Good luck.

check for low coolant, the cooling fan clutch could be faulty it is free wheeling all the time, when engine is hot fan clutch should have some resistance when you turn it by hand. if all is good, your ignition timing could be off,your radiator and engine need flushing out,you could have faulty water pump, a bad egr valve will cause engine over heat if stuck closed which will engine combustion temperature get hotter.make sure you have 50 / 50 antifreeze and water in coolant system too much water in coolant system will cause engine over heat.also radiator pressure cap.check all those things i told you see what happens.

There is a good chance that the Ignition switch is not really turning off or you have a bad light relay.. The buzzer is only suppose to work when the lights are left on and the Ignition switch is off.If a portion of the light relay is stuck, it can keep the buzzer grounded. If the Ignition switch is bridging its contact points, the circuit can be active when it is suppose to be off.If you sign up with Autozone.com for free, you can get some Diagrams of your circuits free after entering your Vehicle type. Once you locate the light relay, sometimes the horn relay is the same part and they interchange. You can read the part number and just swap them.

There is a aftermarket kit you can purchase that makes the job really easy. Sometimes inside the box of the new filter there are instructions also.
