check you switches clean them an then check your wires...

when you were working near distributor you might have pulled out/ or bent the vacuum pipes.

use transmission flush then replace the transmission fluid. the most likely issue lies with severely degraded trans fluid

run fault codes and check for cam/crank position sensor. Check that the cam shaft is turning ( broken timing belt0 After changing the battery you should use a code reader to reset the CPU as the program may be corrupted and the Immobiliser is stopping it from starting.

be looking at fuses yes and check cooling system for all to be working..fans .. thermostat.. etc

does it run well if the engine is warm? if it does it is most probably the water temperature sensor, if not try disconnecting the Air Flow Meter (5/6 pin plug located just after the air filter) and see if it runs better if it does change the a/f meter and post the results.

spark plug cable or the ignition coil ,,,, try the first one. also try filling up 8 oz. of injection fuel cleaner full at your tank (7bucks) and let your car run few minutes. i hope it wasnt your fuel filter (20 bucks)clooge-up neither fuel pump.

Could be your timing jumped,belt has wore out and some teeth probaly are gone on belt,need to remove timing belt cover to check condition of belt and the timing marks.When was the last time the belt was replaced?Car is almost 20 years old,here's a link on how to check.Here's how to replace the belt.
