Change fuel filter 1988 ford thunderbird 6 cylinder
In the trunk left side is inertia switch. rap ******* side with fist, causing button to pop up on top, when this happens the fuel pump will no longer receive power. Now try to start vehicle, should attempt to start and die. Fuel system is no de pressurized. PLease be careful as there is still some pressure in system! and remember to reset inertia switch when done by pressing pop up button back to the down position.

88 ford t-bird
Hello, pick up a Haynes Repair manual from most auto stores or library. Front brakes are disc, rear are drum unless you have a Turbo. You will need a large adjustable C-clamp to compress the front caliper piston and a standard Brake Tool, spoon, & spring remover for the rear. The rear is complex so only replace one side at a time, using the other side as a map. The front caliper has 2 torx bolts holding it in place. They are mounted on the inside of the steering knuckle and are LH threads. Be sure to crack open the
bleeder valves. Drums will need (always) to be turned at a parts store. Disc may or may not have to be turned or replaced. If you press your brakes and you felt a shake in the steering then the rotors are warped. Rotors can only be turned once, or they become thinner then specs allow. Hope this helps...Dave

What is draining my battery
Either your alternator is not charging the battery or it is over charging the battery therefore damaging the battery.
You could also have a component still on drawing power from the battery. The most common being the boot light.

We have not ran the car in a while a little white smoke
White smoke is a sign of a blown head gasket and coolant is getting into the engine with the oil and gas. Check your coolant for signs of oil, and smell for signs of gas. Check your oil and see if it is milky. Milky oil means that coolant is getting past the head gasket.

HOW DO I INSTALL A SOLENOID
Hi! I presume your solenoid is the one on top of the starter motor? and you possibly have it off the vehicle? if the solenoid is seperate from the starter and you are looking at it face on?(This should work for both) Disconnect the Negative - pole battery lug and make sure it can't touch the terminal of the battery. Follow the Positive + heavy cable to the solenoid right hand lug/terminal & connect the other lug/terminal is to starter, there should be a small possibly Black/white wire with a female spade connection this goes to the Male spade on the solenoid. To be safe and in case the heavy cables to and from battery/starter/solenoid being in contact where they shouldn't be just touch lightly the Negative- Battery lug with the heavy Negative battery cable, if all is well there shouldn't be any flashing/arcing however if you are running a immobiliser/alarm this might go off & show as light spark at thge terminal so be prepared. It can take you unawares
Good luck! I hope this helped,

Does my 1963 Ford Thunderbird have to be running down the road for the battery to be charging?
NO ENGINE TOLD OF 4 SOLD NEW DAY1.
NO, AT IDLE IT CHARGES TOO !
800 RPM NORMAL NOT 400.
THE OLD ALT HAD AN EXTERNAL REGULATOR ,AND IS BAD THIS OLD, 55AMP ALT
ALL FUSE GOOD FOR SURE RELATED TO ALT
FUSEBLE LINK TO ALT HUGE LUG NOT BLOWN
THIS CAR HAD 2 DIFFERENT KINDS OF REGUATOR
USE THE CORRECT ONE,
MAY CAR THIS OLD ARE UPGRADED TO ALT WITH ITS OWN INTERNAL ELECTRONIC REGULATOR..
I HAD 1970 CAR AND THEY SELL ELECTRONIC EXTERNAL REGULATORS. AS AND UPGRADE, WOW WAY BETTER.
2003 Thunderbird interior lights stay on after closing door.
They stay on pass 30 seconds ? What light's ? courtesy light's , dome light's ? These lamps are controlled by (FEM) front electronic module . Do you know anything about automotive electronics ,control module's ? If not your best bet would be to take to a qualified repair shop.
