My rear brakes lock up on my 1989 Ford Ranger the rear antilock light is on what can cause this ?
metal particles on the trigger wheel sensor of the rear differential case, this causes a loose of signal and the light to come on. also a broken tooth on the trigger wheel inside the diff can cause this or a dirty/corroded connection to the sensor from water intrusion.

1989 ford ranger xlt 2.9 liter automatic transmission repetitively shifts up and down going 60 to 70 mph seems like it doesn't know what gear to be in.
Your truck has a A4LD transmission. The older ones had major problems. What i believe is happening with yours is the converter is locking up intermittently. 1st-4th are actual gears for 5th(overdrive) the converter locks. I had the same problem as well as did alot of people I spoke with. I solved it by getting a used A4LD out of a '92 ranger with a 3.0L motor (these transmissions had some upgrades to deal with a number of problems including the one you are talking about.) You will need to swap bell-housings (this requires the pump to be shimmed properly,I paid a shop $100 to install the pump ,with is attached to the back of the bell-housing) There are only 2 kinds of A4LD one for floor shift and 1 for column shift, make sure you get the right one.Good luck.

how to replace oil pump
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Gasoline Engines
See Figures 1 and 2
Fig. Fig. 1: Exploded view of the oil pump used on 2.0L and 2.3L gasoline engines
Fig. Fig. 2: Exploded view of the oil pump used on the 4.0L engine-2.8L and 2.9L engines are similar
To install:
Do not force the oil pump if it does not seat readily. The oil pump
driveshaft may be misaligned with the distributor shaft assembly. To
align, rotate the intermediate driveshaft into a new position.
Remember rated this.

location of fuel pump relay on 89 ford ranger 2.9 v6
It's powered by fuse #1 in the battery fuse box, so I would think it should be right there somewhere. If it isn't labeled, see if you can turn the box over to see where fuse #1 leads to.

Saludos.

I have replace starter starter solenoid, ignition switch, cylinder key replacement, Clutch Pedal Position Switch. but still fuse# 24 (15amps) blows any ideas thanks
There is a starter relay in the circuit in addition to the starter solenoid.
If you have replaced the components, I would guess the problem is in the harness or a connector.

where is the ignition control module located
Check for a Thick Film Integrated (TFI) Module attached to the outside of the distrfibutor with about an 8 wire plug on it. That is Ford's ignition module. My recollection is the two screws attaching it to the distributor are odd-ball 7/32 in. size. If the module is taken off, use special ford di-electric grease on the base before re-attaching. For heat dissipation.
