Transmission and oil burning???

For the shifting problem most common and easy fix for your vdub, on the shifter linkage above the the trany are two plastic linkage arms, they are white but may be black due to age and oil/road grim on them. These two short links (about 3 to 4 inches long) are bad for wearing out and being how your roc is a 93 I'm almost 100% sure this is your problem. Go to the dealer and ask for those two links they are very cheap (dealer may have to order them) they simpley pop off. wait till you get the new ones and you will see how they come off, theres a small clip on each end of them that lifts up to instal and remove, then once on you push those clips down it locks it onto the ball/pivet point. Tip: when you take the old ones off make sure you clean up the ball/pivet point well, add some bearing grease to in the inside of the links (its like a socket) and snap them on. You will notice a improvement in shifter movement, also while your in there use lubicating spray on all the linkage pivet points. Easier if you have someone in the car moving the shifter in and out of each gear over and over while you spray the lube on all points.

Now for the oil burning, when the light comes on is there enough oil in the engine ? if yes then replace the oil sensor located at the oil filter bracket, go to your VW dealer and ask for a oil low presure sensor should be blue in colour with one wire spade connector. Please note this may also be mounted on the drivers side of the cylinder head depending on you roc if it was built in Germany or Mexico. Hope this helps vdubs forever !

I have a 80 scirocco all original. alternator

The only thing that is likely to have what you describe is the regulator / brushes unit. I suggest that you have the alternator removed and checked out as it it becomes uncontrolled then there is the possibility of a dead short and fire.

VW Scirocco engine in Audi Fox

Yes, but... I'm guessing you're likely trying to install a more powerful engine, such as the VW 16v from the later Scirocco mk2 ('83 to '89, and I think the 16v was available from '85 or '86). The basic blocks are very similiar; on earlier engines most if not all bore, stroke, and bearing dimensions are the same in same years and displacement, allowing one to use Audi connecting rods (stronger the the VW rods), and some other assorted benefits. Your first major complication is the crankshaft. The VW engine and transaxle is oriented transversly, the Audi's is fore and aft. Different transaxle and entirely different clutch mechanism. The Audi's clutch is fairly traditional, but the VW's is sort of reversed, with the pressure plate operated by a push rod running throught the center of the mainshaft. Result of which is; the crankshaft nose is different. You'll either need to machine the VW crank to mate to the Audi clutch assembly, or swap the Audi crank into the VW block. For reference, I strongly recommend Bentley Repair manuals; these are basically factory manuals sold to the public. For more and better information as to your specific intent, I suggest you try to find local VW or Audi clubs, or a really experienced VW/ Audi repair shop. A good mechanic who has been worked on these machines for years can probably help you get targeted on exactly what you will need to acquire to do the exchange. As I said, it's helpful that VW and Audi are so closely related, I'd guess it's a fairly simple process, bearing in mind that "simple" in context means an engine teardown and rebuild, installing the correct fuel injection and engine management components in the Fox, etc. And finally, if you do this swap; don't forget that more power brings other complications. You'll want to upgrade your brakes at least, and probably other suspension gear. Hope this helps, good luck.

How do I change the

For VW Golf mk5 with 2.0 TFSI engine - air filter replacement instructions:
1. Unplug the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
2. Undo the spring clips and pull out the turbo inlet connector. 3. Remove the two T-25 screws on the air snorkle as shown below. 4. Remove the engine cover by pulling up HARD where indicated by the green circles in the photo below. 5. DO NOT APPLY ANY FORCE where indicated by the red diamonds in the photo below. 6. If it's cold weather, make sure the engine is warm so that the rubber grommets warm up and are flexible enough to come off. Cold, brittle plastic and stiff grommets will lead to a broken airbox/cover even if you otherwise do everything correctly. 7. Pull up on the rear driver's corner (near the battery box) first, then the rear corner where the MAF sensor is, then the fronts.

2. Each headlamp is equipped with two adjustment screws: one for lateral adjustment, and another one for height adjustment.
