It could be dozens of things, but start with checking fuel pump, fuel pump relay and fuel pressure.
It can't be the ECU because it runs when you add fuel. Engines only need three things.
- Fuel
- Compression. You have because it runs.
- A Spark at the right time, You have because it runs.
It runs when you are fuel manually, so fuel delivery is your issue. Does it have an alarm and immobilizer? Battery disconnected or ran flat recently?
Why is fuel leaking in the area of the oil filter?
If you have fuel & gas mixing together the only way that's possible is the cylinder head or engine block are cracked or the gasket is faulty. Runs rough? Hard start? Black smoke from tailpipe? Check for those black plugs & GET A COMPRESSION TEST ASAP!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck Frank M
E3ae-6015-ba21 can anyone decode this
E=1980 casting so E3 would be 1983--AE-6015 is the heads--
BA means its a 302-- (basic engine, economy)
Used in full sized cars, some light duty trucks
Videos on replacing ignition cylinder in 1984 ford f-150
you don't need a video //// on the bottom of the plastic shroud that covers the steering column you will see a hole & inside is a shiny metal button if you don't have the keys you must drill out that button then you will be able to twist the lock cylinder forward to remove it make sure the battery has been disconnected before you rotate the cylinder because the truck will start////// to replace the cylinder you must put the key in the new one and rotate it so the tip fits into the shaped hole in the column also the steps on the outside of the cylinder must fit into place then you can turn it back and the cylinder will lock itself in when the shiny button has popped into place
the tip you see here above ^ and the steps on the side
now you should understand that's the button you drilled out on top that locks the cylinder in the bottom of the column have fun it won't take to long or be to hard to do but that button will not let go till it is drilled past the hole in the column o.k. so get a nice sharp and greased bit for cooling and rip it up
How to remove and repair the front differential on a 1984 ford truck?
It isn't an easy job.
Removing the differential can be helpful to a person repairing it, but not entirely necessary...all parts are accessible, as long as the diff doesn't have a broken case, it should not really need to come off, depending on what the purposed repair is. Something like a re-gear is easier on a bench, but spline replacement is easy to do with the unit in place.
To remove... It requires removing the axle off the leaf springs (possible danger to a novice mechanic) and all related wheel hardware, brakes, shocks, steering, torsion bars, etc...and setting them back in perfect alignment is tricky.
What do you need to do to the diff?
Truck randomly won't start. No clicking, no
when it wont start, turn your headlights on, see if they work if they dont, find out why. When it wont start, take a wire from the positive battery terminal and touch it to the small post on the starter solenoid, it should crank. If it now cranks, theres a problem between the ign switch and the starter solenoid.
