1996 Ford Explorer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a 1996 ford explorer, the person who had it
Look for inst. lites fuse and clean the connectors at the fuse panel. The stereo speakers might have come loose from a poor wiring job. Look under the dash below the radio. Sometimes the dash light switch gets worn and doesn't work until you mess with it a little.

Alternator fuse 1996 Ford explorer
no engine told at all and they are not all the same sorry NOT.
4.0L or 5.0:? USA answers me only. and cars.
well there are 2 or 3.fuses, huge and some small.
one is huge,
50amps to 100amp or more.
step one in the manual states
remove battery lug first step1. oops skipped?
if not the huge fuse is now blown.
if you did that act, learn to follow that huge wire on the huge stud of he alternator, it goes to the main fuse box and to a huge fuse
or is A FUSEABLE link blown up]
now specific answer from the SM.
fuse 17 small blown 15amp
fuse 15 small 7.5amp,
my guess is never seen a fusealble link?
they are not snap in fuses at all
Ford gray coded is 12gauge rated. no idea me why there are 2.
alternators 130 amps to 200,so my guess is 2 are there to DO THAT.,
if the alternator shorts, as they do sometimes you do not want a harness fire for sure next to fuel lines. boom
avoid the dark side fix it right up upgrade to real fuse/extra box.

Where is o2 sensor bank
The oxygen (O2) sensors are located in the exhaust system. There are
three O2 sensors and one Catalyst Monitor, one in each of the exhaust headers near each of the front
wheels and the third in the common exhaust pipe further back. A
special deep socket is available from any parts store to remove the
sensors. The socket has a **** down its length to accommodate the sensor
wire permanently attached. Simply disconnect the bullet connector and
unscrew the sensor.

I have a 96 ford explorer. Driving one day and it
It could be a blockage in the fuel line to the engine - after the filter.
I'm assuming you've tested the line to the filter, as gas would have come out when you took the filter off.

Remove rear headrest, 1996 Ford Explorer
Below the oval plastic cover, push down the fabric and cushion, you should find a circlip/exterior cotter pin that will slide to the driver/passenger side. You need to remove this from both posts and headrest will slide up and out of seat. Be patient, they can be hard to see and or remove. A flat screwdriver or needle nose pliers may be useful. Good luck!

1996 Ford Explorer The starter spins but won't
i know this might seem like a pain but remove your starter again and test it with jumper cables to see if the pinion drive extends and rotates if it doesnt then your starter is defective
