2001 Ford Taurus - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Timin chain and fuel pump has been replace after coil pack and cranshaft sensor...my car turns but wont start.
if the engine is being turn'd over by the starter then the starter is fine. you say the fuel pump was changed have you checked it is pumping. and no air in the line. as an air bubble will stop fuel getting to the engine. also the coil pack was change was it for the same year as your car as there are meany types been made for different ecu types and if it is the a matching pair it will not spark. same with sensors they need to be paired to the right engine cam/crank... all these will make the engine not run. a pone looking there are 2 types of coil packs. and 2 types off sensor packs for different engine years check with the old part hopfully you still have them to the parts you have put on and make sur they match.
I have a 2001 3.0 ford taurus compression on all cylinders less than 90 psi
The car should start, even with low compression in some cylinders. Since two things are needed for combustion, fuel and spark, you need to figure out which is the problem. Remove a spark plug (or buy a spark tester from harbor freight) and check for spark at the plug. Without a tester, simply attach the plug wire to the plug while removed from the engine and rest the base of the plug on the engine block (grounding it). Have someone turn the engine over with the key and observe if you see a hot spark jumping the gap of the plug.
Recommend you go to the library and borrow a copy of Chilton's for your car model.
How to make headlights clear again on 2001 ford Taurus?
You can try one of the headlight cleaning kits,
but I would guess the amount of work & skill
required to follow the instructions, is not what
your looking for
50% of the time, your going to have to replace
the headlamp assy to get them clear enough
to have lighting that will have you seeing properly
again
Locked keys in trunk
if your entire car is locked up, then a locksmith you'll need unless you want to break a window to get in or unless you have a friend who knows how to break into cars without damaging them.....if you can get into your car then you can pull the back seats out which will reveal some slots or openings into the trunk area...which you can then use a telescoping magnet to stick through those openings to retrieve your keys.....
good luck

Makes whining noise
This could be a stuck Bendix gear. The Bendix gear is the gear that engages with the flywheel on the engine when you start the car, and if it hasn't retracted it will whine.
Check with a local garage, but do so soon.
2001 ford taurus key won't turn ignition
The steering wheel was turned when the key was removed. So when you try to turn on the key, turn the wheel one way and the other way to release the pressure on the key. The key should turn ok.
Hope this helps.
