1995 Pontiac Grand Am - Page 9 Questions & Answers
My 1995 GrandAm has over 225,000 miles & up till
Hesitation and rough idling relates to low fuel pressure.First of all get the fuel pressure checked.
If
the pressure checked low that means problem is with faulty pump and clogged
fuel filter.----------- If the fuel pressure is checked ok, then other
possibility is faulty o2 sensor and crank sensor. The o2 sensors are before
and after catalytic converter.-------Both the sensors are to be replaced.------
And as per you mentioned your problem, its quite possible that faulty o2 sensor
will cause this problem.------ O2 sensor is the part which sends signal to ECM(
the cars computer). It sends signal to computer about fuel / air mixture. How and
when to send fuel to engine.--------- If o2 sends stops sending signal to cars
computer then it will not send the fuel to engine.-------And due to this engine will hesitate and run rough.
----------Also check Map sensor. If its got dirty, then disconnect map sensor and then try to run the car and see,if the problem persists.Underneath the air resonator at the throttle body, check to see if there are any vacuum lines that may have came off. Especially the one that connects to the map sensor.------
Other possibility can be faulty catalytic converter .---------
So thi are the possibilities that are to be checked.--------
The fuel pressure first. If the fuel pressure checked low, then problem is fuel pump and dirty clogged fuel filter. If fuel pressure checked ok, then o2 sensor crank sensor and catalytic converter are to be checked,.-------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I would definitely get a second opinion and more cost estimates. If your muffler was indeed "cracked" the noise level would be obvious. I hope this helps.
Replaced fan and relay and
The fan should come on between 217 and 223 degrees. That is normal operating temperature when the computer sends the signal for the fan to operate, Did you bleed the cooling system after you replaced the sensor?
1995 pontiac grand am. need to know where to fill
Hi, Freon is a gas or liquid that has to be pumped in to you cars cooling system.
You need a special machine to do this. Most modern cars don't use Freon anymore.
Now there is an enviromentally safer product that they use ( R134a )
You may have to make some changes to you system to make this work. Good luck.
How do i disconnect anti
The anti theft is tied into your ignition, starter, and/or fuel injectors. It is impossible to just disconnect. If disconnected the car will never start and run again. But luckily due to the abundance of these systems failing, people have found ways to bypass the whole system. Check out this link. Its full of info as to why the system failed. And "do it yourself" ways to fix it. I've personally done both procedures on this page dozens of times and both work very well. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
Need to replace the turn
It is located behind the fuse block on the driver's side. When you open
the drivers door you can plainly see the fuse block. (marked "FUSES")
Flasher is behind that. You have to get to it from under the dash. Take
out panels under steering wheel. If you get your head down by the
brake pedal you can see it.
When someone changed theirs, they took out the little
bracket that holds it in and relocated it to a lower place - they clipped
the flasher bracket onto the little access door closest to the emergency
brake (on the panel that you have to take out). Luckily the wires were
long enough to enable this, so if you have to change it again, it's
a lot easier.
How do you bleed air
A good way to do this, is while the engine is cool. I say again, COOL.
Take the radiator cap off, and start the engine, slowly pour coolant into the radiator until it stops going down. look for air bubbles, once the air bubbles stopped, it should be good to go.
