2005 Dodge Neon - Page 7 Questions & Answers
My wife's car was stopping dead while driving so
Had the exact same problem with my 2005 Dodge Neon. One place told me it was the alternator, and replaced it, only to have it happen again 3 days later. Dealership couldn't figure it out at first until it happened again (right after I picked it up from them and got about half way home.) Turns out it was a bad battery cable.
Diagnostic codes
Code 16 is for a problem with the timing between the cam and crank sensors, and code 339 is for a problem with the circuit for the crank sensor.I would recommend checking the crank sensor and circuit back to the computer first.
Strong raw fuell smell inside the car intermitantly
Usually, what you smell inside the car is coming thru the vent from the engine compartment. So it could be a leak around the engine or the vapor canister. Its possible the canister gets overloaded from time to time when the computer vents the gas tank to the canister. A very small leak can be a very strong smell inside the car.
Engine oil in coolant
The 2.0 is notorious for blowing head gaskets. It could be a cracked head, but I bet it\'s the inner side of head gasket. The ongoing problem is caused by putting an aluminum head on a cast block. They just don\'t work together.
My neon wont crank over at all.i got power every where else
Are you saying the engine will not crank, or cranks but will not start ?If it will not crank, you have a 30amp fuse that powers the ignition switch and the starter relay. You would need to find out if that fuse has power and if you have power at the starter relay. If it cranks, the first thing to check is the ASD relay.
Where is the vaccum located on 2005 dodge neon
Sounds like you mean the problem could be a leak in the EVAP system. The computer vents the gas tank to the vapor canister several times while you are driving. The engine produces vacuum when it is running.Do you have the actual trouble code ?
