I have a 98 Nissan Frontier manual. The starter is fine and all fuses are fine. It will not crank. Have power. I cannot locate the starter relay switch. Can you tell me exactly where it is?
sometimes its the simple things. On the foot pedal for the clutch are rubber grommets that push the switch in on the manual trans. they get old and fall off or develop holes in them so the switch does not get depressed.

I have a 1998 Nissian Frontier, 2.4 liter, 4 cyl, 4x4. Belts squeal on start up for a few minutes. Is there a way to fix this problem? I have changed the belts, the pulleys, new hardware, and new brackets and nothing works for more than a few days. I have put brake fluid on the belts since its water based and shouldn't destroy the belt but that is only a 1 day fix. Any suggestions?
Squeal belts usually mean not enough tension. I have had problem with persistance squeling in the past, the problem turn out to be cheap aftermarket belt that keep stretching and wouldn't maintain proper tension, putting brake fluid or any kind of oily liquid on your belt will make it worst not better.

my brake light for my frontier truck will not go out after I turn off the engine. What and where do I buy a switch for the problem?
I have to take off the batteries terminal to turn the lights off and put it back on when I want to start my truck. Can you help me.

DON'T REPLACE YOUR BREAK LIGHT SWITCH YET...
the 98 frontier break arm (what the pedal is attached to) has a MANUFACTURED "hole" through it that will allow the plunger of the break light switch to pass right thru. There is supposed to be a rubber "button" snapped into this hole, however, over time, dry rot and age will cause it to fall out. When this "snap in" button falls out, your break lights will stay on till the battery dies. This is another shining example of DTF engineering. (design to fail) Most cars now are filled with these little parts and they're purpose is to generate revenue.
Your break switch probably works.
1. look in the floor board for the button that fell out, it's about the same size as a button off your shirt.
2 Slide your hand up the break pedal arm till you find the "hole" I'm referring to. (you'll know it when you feel it)
3 Tape the damn button back into the hole with electrical tape, or tape a shirt button over the hole. that will work for a little while.
** remember ** if you are driving with break lights in this condition (on all the time)...no one knows when you're really stopping!!!
you can get a snap in rubber grommet to replace it at most hardware stores (I don't even want to know what Nissan would charge for this little part.)
**note** replacing it is easy if you start the truck first (power breaks) and have someone hold the pedal while you work on it!

98 nissan frontier speedometer, odometer, gas gauge rpm gauge not working i'm guessing if the wires are fine its the sensors, i havent done odometer speedometer repairs, but know where and what it is on some cars. i dont know about the rpm gauge, and im guessing the gas gauge it will be the fuel pump or wiring to the fuel pump
My gas guage, speed odometer and tempiture does not work
The speed odometre is reading 9999999 what should i do

i have code p1776 check engine light on my nissan frontier 1998
I have the same issue, rebuilt the tranny and replaced the solenoid, checked electrical and functionality of soleniod and I am still having the same problem.
I notice it happens in the 50-60 mph range. If I le the truck warm up then hit the road and quickly excellerate to 65 or above and stay there I can go with out any trouble. If I should forget and run in the 50 to 60 MPH range, I will get the code. if I drive that way a second time, the MIL will come on showing P1776 twice.

Fuse location for Dashboard light in 1998 Nissan Frontier XE 2WD . The Manuel and Fuse Box Covers don't help at all. Entire Dash lighting is out, other dash features work fine.
Fuse Number 39 10amp fuse Color Red.
Fuse Number 11 10amp fuse Color Red
This illuminated your dash (cluster)

1998 Nissan frontier 2.4 ke motor head bolts torque spec
1998-2002 Nissan Frontier with 2.4 L KA24D and KA24DE class engines , Cylinder Head Bolts Tightening Procedure :- you have total of 10 bolts , 5 on the LH of engine and 5 on RH ( LH is the intake side and the RH is the exhaust side ) : starting from center LH #1 , #2 on RH center side , #3 LH front of #1 , #4 RH behind #2, #5 RH before #2 , #6 LH behind #1 , #7RH engine front corner , #8 LH end of engine corner, #9 LH front engine corner and final #10 bold is RH end of engine corner .
the Torque spec steps are as follows :
step A- tighten all bolts to 29N-M ( 3.0 kg-M or 22 Ft lb ) step B- tighten all bolts to 79 N-M ( 8.1 kg-M or 59 Ft ib )
step C- loosen all bolts completely .
step D- tighten all bolts again to 25 up to 34 N-M ( 2.5 up to 3.5 kg - M or 18 to 25 Ft lb )
step E- using angle wrench ( turn all bolts clockwise 86+ - degrees ) if you don't have an angle wrench ? do as follows : as final step : tighten all Bolts 75 up to 84 N-M ( 7.6 up to 8.6 Kg - M or 55 to 62 Ft lb ) .
