A defective speed sensor will normally cause the check engine light to illuminate as well as affect speedometer operation/cruise control operation/and transmission shifting depending on make and model. It should not affect the vehicle from reaching speed. IS the check engine light on? If so, was it scanned for codes that may point you in the right direction. You may have an exhaust/converter problem starting to develop that will cause a lack of power resulting in reaching higher speeds

The CV shaft is connected between the transmission and wheel. Each front wheel has a CV shaft. This is how power gets to each front wheel by making it turn.
a bad battery would give a wrong judgement of an alternator output. take off your battery and replace with a working one, test your alternator output using a DMM it should read about 12.5 when engine off and 14v when engine start running any figure more or less shows you have a bad alternator or an incorrect input current to the alternator....hope this fixxx it?
IF you have recently changed the gauge cluster then the 'security' or 'anti theft' needs to recognize the new cluster. The system will need to be reset.
It's been a few years but if I remember correctly you need to turn the key on, then off 3 times, then turn the key to the on position and leave it there for 10 minutes. Then turn the key off for a few seconds. After that, the vehicle SHOULD start and stay running.
If the gauge cluster hasn't been changed then I really don't have an answer.
Check your ABS sensors and wiring at each fron wheel. They could have dirt corrosion or pinching a wire. This could trigger all lights. You can have the codes checked at Advance or Autozone as their code reader should still pull any pending faults.
