how to change the fuel pump and where is the fuel pump located
Posted by jordan... on
In order to replace the fuel pump u must remove the gas tank, the fuel pump is located inside the tank. U are going to need to get the car at least 3 feet in the air, u will need a good 2 1/2 ton hydraulic floor jack, 4 good safety stands and common hand tools, also a brass drift to release fuel pump module retainner ring on top of tank, don't use steel one spark and u are up in smoke.

where is the oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1?
Posted by hdunham75 on
From the 2002 Oldsmobile Alero manual:
A device found in the exhaust manifold, which generates a small voltage dependent on the amount of oxygen present in the exhaust stream, used as a signal to the engine-control computer to determine the amount of fuel necessary to maintain a proper air/fuel ratio.
What this means to me is search the exhaust manifold for it - its screwed into it.
Unscrew it with a specialty oxygen sensor socket (a slotted 7/8-in hex socket) - available for
$10 at any parts store. This is likely the HO2S (heated oxygen sensor) Bank 1 Sensor 1, since
it is before the catalytic converter, the second oxygen sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2) should
be the one located after the catalytic converter.
P0130 - HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit Closed Loop Performance
P0131 - HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit Low Input
P0132 - HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit High Input
P0133 - HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Insufficient Activity
P0135 - HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction
Note the P0131 can be also be caused by a bad MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor,
so yank the MAP sensor and check the computer for a lean fuel condition (P0131=low input).

The battery is not charging but it good. The alternator was rebuilt and started charging the battery at 19 volts then went down to 14 volts which was alright, until, the battery charge just kept going down. The battery is still good & we tried another rebuild kit using tips from the manufacturer. Now it starts at 10 volts. We turned it off immediately. What could be the problem?

a bad battery would give a wrong judgement of an alternator output. take off your battery and replace with a working one, test your alternator output using a DMM it should read about 12.5 when engine off and 14v when engine start running any figure more or less shows you have a bad alternator or an incorrect input current to the alternator....hope this fixxx it?

I just fixed the head gasket, replaced the thermostat but the car is still over heating the water pump is not leaking but temp red lines in ten minutes
should I replace the water pump? what else can it be please help.

Raise the front of the car as high as possible with a jack then run the engine and leave the radiator cap off, the air in the system should go to the high point which will be the radiator, don't over heat the engine, after the system is warm put the cap on and fill the recovery tank all the way up, run until it starts to get hot turn if off and leave it up jacked up well it cools, running a hose on the radiator will speed this up. This should cure the bleeding issue or really help.

how to change water pump in 2002 oldsmobile alero and a diagram of the engine? and where to start from the top of engine or side by the tire?
Posted by sadgirl623 on
I suggest that you visit the autozone.com website and register the vehicle. It doesn't cost anything and will give you access to an online repair manual. The steps for replacing the water pump should be available there. Hope this helped and best wishes.
