Why wont my 2005 Pontiac Sunfire start sometimes?

It sounds like there may be an issue with the ignition system on your 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. Here are a few potential causes for the problem you're experiencing:
  1. Faulty ignition switch: The ignition switch is responsible for sending power to the starter, so if it's not working properly, the engine may not crank.
  2. Bad starter solenoid: The starter solenoid is responsible for engaging the starter when you turn the key, if it is not functioning properly, the engine will not crank.
  3. Wiring problem: If there is a problem with the wiring leading to the starter or ignition switch, it can prevent the engine from cranking.
  4. Failed crankshaft position sensor: This sensor is responsible for relaying the engine's position to the car's computer. A bad sensor can cause a no-start condition.
  5. Failed PCM (Powertrain Control Module) that can prevent the engine from starting.
It's likely that one of these issues is causing the problem you're experiencing, but it can be difficult to diagnose without proper testing. It would be best to take it to a professional mechanic for proper diagnosis and repair.

Can't put in gas except a trickle

Some pump nozzles are a bit touchy and will sense any splash back from the gas tank. What really helps... only put the pump nozzle half way into the tank. It has more to do with the gas hose at the pump than with your car. Good luck.

Driver's side wheel bearings, greased

That depends on what type of vehicle you drive. If the noise is on turns it’s more than likely a bad ball joint or toe rod end

I bought an after market in dash stereo for my

Hello Megan, It sounds like there is a specific wiring harness required for your Sun Fire. First place I would start is with the compatibility of the after market stereo. Did the stereo manufacturer provide an application list with the stereo.... that provides the makes and models of vehicles it will work in? If your stereo purchase is new, can you exchange it for a unit that is compatible with your car, including the necessary and correct wiring harness? If not....then you will need to purchase the harness that has been identified as correct for your vehicle.

Pontiac sunfire interior lights, horn and blinkers do not work

They are talking about the body control module, but I'm not sure they are right. The horn does not need the bcm to work. See diagram below. The horn relay is energized by the horn switch on the steering wheel. The switch also signals the bcm, but that is not used to power the horn. 0996b43f80241a74-jnh1p0frnkt3q2fbcpfimq4v-3-0.gif The turn signal does not use the bcm at all. The problem there may be the switch or the wire. See diagram below. 0996b43f80245517-jnh1p0frnkt3q2fbcpfimq4v-3-2.gif The instrument lights DO REQUIRE the bcm, but can be rewired to bypass the bcm. The gray wire from the bcm in the diagram below powers the instrument lights. You can cut the gray wire and splice it to the brown wire from the multi function switch. Find the brown wire coming out the bottom of the steering column, skin some insulation off the wire and verify it has 12 volts when the parking lights are on. Do not cut the brown wire--just attach the gray wire to it. You will not be able to dim the lights, but they will come on. 0996b43f80241223-jnh1p0frnkt3q2fbcpfimq4v-3-5.gif

It's not a PCV valve like back in the day . It's a fix orifice in the valve cover . Where the breather hose hooks to the valve cover . You would need to take the valve cover off an clean the orifice with carb clean or brake clean .

Does a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire have a PCV valve?

Crankcase Ventilation System Description A crankcase ventilation system is used to consume crankcase vapors in the combustion process instead of venting them to atmosphere. Fresh air from the intake system is supplied to the crankcase, mixed with blow by gases and then passed through a calibrated orifice into the intake manifold. The primary control is through the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) orifice which meters the flow at a rate depending on inlet vacuum. The PCV orifice is an integral part of the camshaft cover. If abnormal operating conditions occur, the system is designed to allow excessive amounts of blow by gases to back flow through the crankcase vent into the intake system to be consumed by normal combustion.

My brake lights and both signal lights do not work. I tried replacing a bulb in the signal light to see if it was just burnt out but it doesnt work. Why would they all stop working at once?

The most common cause would be the turn signal switch. You would need to check for power in and out of the brake light switch, then the turn signal switch to find the problem.
