There is no "linkage" under the hood. It is a hydraulic clutch, and the only linkage is form the pedal to the clutch master cylinder, which is bolted directly to the firewall. So all the physical "linkage" is inside the passenger compartment.
Here is a picture of the master cylinder:
You can see the bolts that come thru the firewall..
If you are having issues with the clutch, I recommend replacement like the dealer recommends: the complete sealed system. You can get it at Autozone via special order. It comes completely assembled, including Master and Slave cylinders and reservoir. Here is a picture of that:
Won't open with the key ? Do all the other doors lock an unlock ? You have to understand the electronics involved , you have a remote keyless entry module an all switches are an input to the (RKEM) , an from the voltage input it knows what door to open or unlock or lock . First you would need a wiring diagram to test the circuit an you need to pull the inside panel off the rear hatch to get at the motor to see if the power is getting to it. Can be a very time consuming job. Here check out this video ,it's not the same vehicle as yours but it will give you an idea of what's involved . 2008 2012 Ford Escape Liftgate Latch Won Open Access Diagnosis Repair
Smoking at startup can be one of two things....water or oil.
Moisture buildup in the muffler will show up as white smoke on startup, usually more noticeable on cooler mornings than on warm days. Blue smoke on startup is usually caused by small amounts of oil that leak past the valve seals as they get older, worn, and dry out. This is not usually a major issue unless and until it gets to the point of causing oil-fouling of the spark plug(s). Then you must either repair the problem or be prepared to clean your spark plug(s) periodically if the engine starts to display a noticeable misfiring.
so, i guess, you never seen a scan tool>
you crank engine and you get DTC errors telling you what failed?
crank for 5 seconds, bingo?????
now cranks means cranks ok. good.
so spark got spark on all cylinders, that be next
if yes, test fuel works does it?
clean throttle body really good, remove Idle air control to see if it is plugged with carbon deposits, (IAC). Also a vacuum leak will cause this too. Depending on vehicle, the Idle air control should be on or near throttle body. God-Bless!
Have to check powers and ground curcuit.
Idle Air Control Motor Circuit Malfunction Possible Causes Setting Conditions • Stepper motor connector is damaged (check pins for damage, and moisture) • Stepper motor Coil 1, 2, 3 or 4 circuit is open or shorted to ground • Stepper motor coil circuit(s) is shorted to voltage • Stepper motor has failed • PCM has failed Engine running; system voltage over 11.5v, and the PCM detected an incorrect voltage on one or more of the IAC motor circuits for 2.75 seconds with the motor enabled.
The key fob disables the security system and will shut off horn. If you want horn not to blow during lock and unlock, there should be a deactivation feature in your dash set up menu. Have a look in owners manual for more info and if deactivation is an available selection
