where is the obd port on a1994 jeep grand cherokee
HI there:
For the engine computer, the connector is in the engine compartment, right beside the coolant overflow bottle. It should be clipped to the wiring harness, and may have a plastic cap on it. It's shaped like a fat L.
Extracting Fault Codes:
Without ever starting the engine Turn the ignition switch ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON and observe the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. The CHECK ENGINE LIGHT should begin to flash a series of codes. The flashes will be separated by short and long pauses. The long pauses separate the "ones" and "tens" positions, and each code from the next. A code 55 will be displayed at the end of the test.
Hope this helps.

Jeep Headlights not working. High beam works fine, low beam nothing. 1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0.
Park lights work fine. Checked all fuses and they are fine. Is this the headlight Switch?
Thanks
had the same problem on my 92....check under the hood on the drivers side, towards the front, there is a "junction box" with all of the lighting wires connecting from the switches to the lights. My wires were all corroded inside,so I cleaned the ends and bought a new box from the local electronic supply store. The problem has not come back.
Cheers

no heat coming out but all mechanical bit are working
Get jeep up to operating temp
Turn on heater to max heat
Hood feel 2 heater core hoses goint into upper passenger side of engine compartment firewall.
They should feel too hot to hold
If it's not hot, could be 6 things
1. heater control valve is bad
2. Vacuum to heater control valve is bad
3. clogged heater core.
4. Bad thermostat
5. Bad waterpump
6. Needs more coolant (check when system is cold)
Do these things:
1. Disconnect vacuum line from control valve and feel under valve to manually move valve to open position. This should let hot water flow through core. If you now have heat inside, replace the heater control valve. Or you can disconnect the plunger on the heater control that is hooked on to the silver bar on the bottom of it. With it disconnected you can manually move it to the open position. It will always remain on.
2. When system is cold, disconnect both heater hoses going to heater core. hook up a water hose to one side of heater core and flush out any gunk. When you get done, the water should run clear. If you see lots of gunk come out, that was probably the problem. Replacement is like $20-30
3. When system is hot and engine running, squeeze the upper radiator hose (using gloves) when you release it you should feel a surge of water. Proves your water pump is working. If no surge, check thermostat. If thermostat checks good, look at the weep holes at the bottom of the water pump for traces of antifreeze. If you see a trace or stream of coolant, indicates bad pump.
4. As far as testing the thermostat, watch as your engine heats up on the gauge. when it gets to a certain point you will see the temperature rise, then lower, then rise again. This means your thermostat opened properly, cooling the system temporarily, then heated it back up. Replacement is around $5
Try these and see how it goes.

in the fuse panel of a jeep cherokee 1995, where is the a fuse for the headlights? which one is it? or where is a (micro) control fuse?
where can i see a diagram of this fuse panel, free.
Thanks, Larry
Number 11 is a 25 amp (natural) Headlamp delay module and also controls the horn.
Number 15 is a 15 amp (Lt. Blue) this controls the instrument panel lamps, headlamp switch, parking lamps and radio/clock memory.
number 17 is a 7.5 Amp (Violet) controls instrument cluster gauges, headlamp delay module, chime module, overhead console. I hope this helps because there are several different configurations for the jeep. So if this doesn't make sense then let me know and I will send you a different one.

how to replace fuel filter on 1995 jeep cherokee sport?
Hi,
it IS on the inside of the drivers side rear frame. In between the back
wheels and the gas tank. You have to the pressurize your fuel system first
unless you want gas every where. Take your fuel pump relay start
the jeep until the fuel in the lines get used up. then put your relay
back after you disconnect the battery, than take the filter off, put the
new one on, and then hook your battery up and start the jeep. it will
run odd for a minuet but after it builds the fuel pressure up it will be
smooth again.
Good luck.
Oh and don't smoke while your doing this!! :

I need to know the location of the cruise control fuse. Lost the manual and it doesn't tell me on the cover.
Check this out also...the schematic is too small to see which fuse it is in the engine compartment Power Distribution Center (the fuse box). Is your cruise control not working?
Cruise Control
The Cruise Command system is electrically actuated and vacuum operated. The turn signal lever on the steering column incorporates a slide switch which has three positions OFF, ON or RESUME. A SET button is located in the end of the lever. This device is designed to operate at speeds above approximately 35 mph (56 km/h).
The speed control module automatically controls throttle position to maintain a speed set by the operator. The vehicle will keep the set speed unless the driver presses the brake, clutch or accelerator pedal.

wipers don't work and I found a 4.8A 12v 4GA 8956 001 110 fuse like part on the floor under steering wheel
I had the same thing happen to me.
The piece you found is dealer part # 56001110 and is a 4.8 amp breaker that controls the windshield wipers.
It plugs into the bottom of the fuse panel, a little above where your left foot rests when driving the car.
I was wearing my size 14 boots and kicked it out, which snapped off the two tabs.
I pulled the tabs out of the box with pliers then bought a replacement.
I read that the dealer sells them for about $30 and some websites (like Quadratec, part # 17015.8000) sell them for about $30 as well, but I bought one on eBay for a few bucks cheaper.
That fuse panel is in a bad location.
