How do you remove alarm
Hello,
This is likely to be factory if it's the car's own horn honking. However, if it's a siren and flashing lights, it's after market.
Ok, here's what I know...
Normally, putting the key in the drivers side door lock, turning to the left, then to the right all the way will unlock and disarm/reset the "OEM factory" alarm system.
However, if your system is after market:
The Parking Lights Would Flash, A siren Is Going Off, An LED Is Flashing As Well, and You May Have A Shock/Impact sensor set Too High Too. Try The Following Procedure To Disarm/Disable It.
To start with, you can identify which after market system you have by using the FCC. ID.# found
on the back of each remote. Try a site like www.keynfob.com or remotes4you.com to track down the one you have in your hand.
Now let's put the system into override mode.
As far as the valet/override button, it's a hidden device-switch, a little spring loaded micro button,
red or black possibly and is probably down under the dash area, near your knee/leg. In some remote start/alarm combos, the antenna on the window glass will also have an override/valet button.
Older systems will have a flip type toggle switch.
When you locate the button or switch, turn on the ignition key, press and hold in the button until the alarm chirps 1 time (for toggle types, key on, flip switch in the opposite direction, then key off)
This should over ride the system, and only the keyless entry part, if installed, would still be operating.
You would get a single chirp to confirm from the siren. The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash should also go on solid. This is valet/overide/reset. This should correct any issues like starter disable, or anti-******. Your keyless entry, if installed, will still be operable.
You would repeat the same steps to toggle back into user mode.
That should do it for 90% of the after market alarms out there.
And in GM vehicles, the PASSLOCK system may be engaged. See your options at www.GMPASSLOCK.com for this eventuality.
If however, yours is a "FACTORY" or, OEM (original Equipment Manufacturer) "alarm/security" system, then the disabling procedure info for any given specific vehicle is now deamed to be too sensitive to publish here (as suggested by ALLEXPERTS administration.!).
So, to comply, as of March, 22 08, this service is no longer part of the volunteer information for free at ALLEXPERTS.com . Specific OEM/FACTORY alarm disarm/disabling info is now available ONLY at the WIREWERX.
Please go to the WIREWERX so that you can get you the info you require to fix your situation.
The WIREWERX = www.WIRINGCHARTS.com
In addition; If the Vehicle Theft Security System module is being removed and no replacement module is being installed, the module wiring must be disconnected while the engine is running. Failure to do so will cause a no-start condition.
Try this
SYSTEM SELF-TESTS
A diagnostics mode is available in the system to verify operation of all monitored switches or circuits. To enter diagnostics, cycle the ignition key to the accessory position 3 times, leaving the key in this position.
Upon entering diagnostics, the park and tail lamps will begin flashing to verify their operation. In addition, the horn will sound twice to indicate that the trunk key cylinder is in its proper position. Returning the ignition to the OFF position will stop the lamps from flashing while keeping the system in diagnostics.
While in diagnostics mode, a horn pulse should occur at each of the following events indicating proper operation:
1. Beginning with all doors closed, open then close each door. The horn will sound when the door ajar switch closes, and then again when the switch opens. There must be a 1 second delay between closing and opening the switch.
2. Open, then.close the hood. The horn will sound when the hood is opened, and again when it is closed.
3. Activate the power door locks in both the LOCK and UNLOCK directions. The horn will sound after each activation.
4. Rotate the key in each of the door lock cylinders to the unlock position. The horn will sound as the switch closes, and again when it opens. There must be a 1 second delay between changing switch states, or the horn will not sound.
o Press the LOCK button, horn will sound.
o Press the UNLOCK button, horn will sound.
o Press the mink button, horn will sound.
1. Cycle the key to the ignition RUN position. A single horn pulse will indicate proper operation of the ignition input. This will also take the module out of the diagnostics mode. For any of these tests, if the switch does not remain open or closed for at least 1 second, the horn will only sound once. The lack of a horn pulse, during any operation, indicates a switch failure, the lack of that input to the Vehicle Theft Security System module, or a failure internal to the module. Check for continuity at the switch, if this is good, check for an open or shorted wire between the switch and alarm module. Also, check if a new engine controller has been installed recently. Vehicle Theft Security System will not function until 20 engine cranks. Whenever a Vehicle Theft Security System malfunction occurs, first verify that the wire harness is properly connected to all connectors before starting normal diagnosis and repair procedures. Refer to Vehicle Theft Security System Diagnosis Chart.
Good luck....
