2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I disconnected the power and the ground from the battery. Zip tie them together or wedged them underneath the crossmember that holds the battery down. (which is metal) to bleed system power. Then I step on the brake pedal for five minutes reinstall everything and restart car.

From the looks of the diagram it does run the water pump as well so unless you want to replace the head i would park it.

Hello. Be sure the copper strands of the cables are 'firmly' seated and tightened to and in their respective cable ends. Also, there is a 'secondary' ground wire that must be attached to 'ground' cable. If that secondary cable is not connected, the starter may not work. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Check engine oil level with dipstick. If low, don't run engine until you have checked for leaks and added oil.

This would be pointing to the wrong fuel being filled up. Drain the fuel tank, flush the system, change the filter and re-fill with correct fuel.

can be a few problems if any codes have scanned and start with that if no codes start with checking fuel pressure --egr valve--cat converter --throttle body --etc

Dropping the fuel tank is the only way without access plates . Two tank straps, may need to loosen exhaust, electrical connection to pump and fuel lines, tank fill neck hose and a couple of small hoses . Draining the tank first helps . Fire extinguisher nearby . Brass punch for pump retaining ring .

It should be listed on the access cover of the fuses. Look carefully. If that doesn't work, go to library and look it up with car repair manual.

Run an obd scanner on it for fault codes.

Ask for waver sticker if is emission issue n performance ok

You need to replace the brake transmission shift interlock solenoid. This may mean replacing the whole shifter mechanism. The solenoid the locks the shifter has failed and is stuck.in the unlocked position.

Is it the nut on the pressure line?If so cut the line flush with the nut and use a socket to remove the nut.

Dont you hate sitting at a stop with your foot on the accelerator pedal trying to keep it from dying? :)

Idle Air Control Valve

It can be cleaned, but relatively inexpensive and given age of vehicle, just replace. Could be bad electrical connection or other but again... replace first and troubleshoot further if doesn't fix issue.
