How do I add refrigerant for the air conditioner?

Get a fill kit with a pressure gauge on it from an auto parts store. The ones with a red, yellow, green indicator are the easiest to use. Follow the instructions on the label. You will be measuring pressure from the low pressure side, that's the one with the thicker aluminum pipe coming out of the compressor. There will be a service port with a plastic cap on it. That's where you connect the refill kit. Follow the instructions & get the pressure into the middle area on the gauge while the a/c is on max & the engine running.

How many miles before oil change is needed

I drive quite a few miles in my 1998 LEXUS LS40 and have religiously changed the oil every 5,000 miles (and rotated the tires). Im pushing 185,000 miles on it now and I am due to change the timing belt a second time next weekend. That being said, I have never had any issues with the engine changing the oil at a 5,000 mile interval. I use the standard synthetic blend oil at the local quick stop type oil change places.

The Nakamichi radio in the 1998 Lexus LS400 is turned on by pressing the large round button on the radio in. This same button also controls the volume by turning it clockwise or anticlockwise. The radio will use the same audio input that it used when it was turned off. The input can be changed using the series of buttons on the right side of the radio, tape, cd, fm, am.

How to replace oxygen sensor?

The sensor is located in the exhaust system just off the exhaust manifold in the head pipe, it is removed using a special 7/8" O2 sensor socket, this socket requires a 1/2" drive ratchet and a short extension in most cases. The sensor unscrews counter clockwise. This engine will have 2 sensors, one for each bank of engine cylinders, you must id the correct sensor before the change out. If money is not a problem i would suggest you replace both sensors as an old and new sensor can provide confusing output data to the powertrain control module(computer).

I wanted to know do i need a new starter

The starter itself might need cleaning of old dirt, grease, oil, or crud inside, but I think your starter solenoid is failing. The contacts in it are probably pitted and failing. Those starters are pretty bullet-proof. Don't exchange it for a cheap alternative. Just replace or repair the solenoid.

How do you replace Disc

Hi, jack up the car, remove the wheels.

If you are using a hydraulic jack, this is the jack point I used.

(Unlike many other models, the caliper does not have to be removed to change the brake pads on the Lexus LS430) Push the pin out with a screwdriver as you press on the middle of the metal plate as I am doing with my thumb. tunde007_3.jpg

Open the hood and locate and open brake fluid reservoir cap to allow pressure to be released later when compressing the brake piston

Remove the old brake pads, they should slide out. If not, you may need to push the piston back by sliding a flathead screwdriver in there. Comparing the old brake pads with the new.

The old pads will have metal plates which you can reuse. I applied anti-squeal paste on the outter contact surfaces.

Brake pad sensor On the passenger side brake pads, there is a brake sensor which slides out and should be installed back in the new brake pads.

You can either use a C-clamp to push the pistons back in as the new pads will be larger than the old brake pads. Instead of a C-clamp, I stuck the old pads in between the rotor and pistons and pushed the pistons back. It would be wise to put some cardboard paper to protect the surface of the rotor. Also avoid pushing against the piston rubber surface.

Install the new pads and everything else in reverse, and you are done! Don't forget to close the brake fluid reservoir cap, and pump the brakes before driving off so that pistons meet the new brake pads snugly.
