Car overheating, fan won't turn on.
well first you will need to hard wire the fan to the battery to determine if the fan is good. then You will need to check the fuse/relay for radiator/AC fan. after that if necessary, check the engine coolant temperature sensor, could be faulty, this sensor tells the computer when the engine is hot enough to turn the fans on
93 Mercury topaz does fuel pump have a fuse or relay
there is a fuel pump turn off switch installed on ford. when you lost the tread this was activated. the location will be noted in your owners manual if you have one. usually installed in the rear (trunk area) or front of car drivers side near fuse panel, or passenger side it is a little red button, all you have to do is push it in to reset the switch.
We have change tthe spark
You should check your idle control its at the rear of the engine on the drivers side. It has two bolts and one electrical connection. It can be cleaned by spraying carburetor cleaner into it and rinsing it out.Typically you should replace it but it can be around 100 dollars for the part.
Erratic idle and misfiring problem
when you changed the valve cover did you bump the distributor a bit? If it has a distributor mounted on the head you can loosen it and turn it to advance the timing. it may solve your problem.
Fuel pump relay and fuse in a 92 topaz
It's located in the trunk on the drivers side. You should see a black and yellow sticker below a hole indicating that the fuel pump shut off switch is here. Even if your sticker has worn off, if it's a 92 topaz it most likely will be there in that hole. Shine a flashlight in it and you should see a black unit with a red button on top. Push the button down until it clicks in place. If the button is already down, your problem is something else.

1992 mercury topaz
I had the same problem. It was the idle air control valve. It sits on top of the intake just downstream from the throttle. There's a valve rod inside that gets worn over time and starts to stick. If that's what is causing your problem, you need to replace the unit.
Adjusting the idling
i had the same problem with a 87 topaz we had to turn down the timing it took like ten min.

Did you fix this yet?
Are you getting fuel to the plugs?
Try starting the car, then remove one of the plugs. Check for the smell of fresh gasoline. You could also try smelling the exhaust to see if there is a fresh unburt gasoline smell.
If your getting fuel, then the fuel system is probably not the problem.
Are you getting spark to the plugs?
After you replaced the Distributor, did you adjust the timing?
Replaceing starter
Yes they go to the starter post, they are the power source for the rest of the electrical system, they are called fuse links.
1992 topaz turns over but wont start
Ok when you turn the key to start it do you hear a high pitch whine for like 1 to 2 seconds if you do it is not your fuel pump. If you do not hear it then you might be correct. I have never changed it but i believe it is under the rear seat not too certain which side. Before you get that far though have you checked any of your battery components or starter? It may be a simple solution
Good Luck
