I don't think that the power steering pump has anything to do with this problem unless they pulled a vacuum hose off while putting it in.It could also be a sensor that's going bad.I would have The crank shaft and cam shaft sensors tested to make sure that they are properly working. My best advise is to take it to someone else and have them look at it.They will be able to tell you more definitively whether or not the problem is from your previous repairs.
The "Service Engine Soon" light
Hi, there are a lot of things that can set the light. When there are no symptoms, you have to get a scan to find out what it is. If your car is 1996 model or later and you live in the US, you can get a free OBD2 scan at your local parts chain. Write down the code and send it to us for analysis and advice. OK?
Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5932051-check_engine_light_check. These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

It sounds like you may have an electrical item on the car staying on and draining the battery.
Testing will require a voltmeter that has an amperage scale. The idea is to charge the battery, then hook the meter up inline between the negative battery post and the negative cable clamp.
Look for a reading below 20 milliamp. If higher, go to the fuse panel and pull fuses one at a time to see which one lowers the amp reading, to narrow down to the circuit responsible for the battery drain.
I have a 1998 Mercury Topaz that starts to miss
Even tho the ignition seems ok, I'd check the ignition cables to the plugs. Sometimes these break down over time... it will idle and drive ok, but when you need power for a hill, or acceration, that's when the wires faults start to show up.
A quick test is to put the car in drive with your left foot on the brake FIRMLY while you press the accerator... if the miss and lack of power shows up, it's usually the ignition cables to the plugs.

Where is the radio fuse
Hi there!
It could be located behind the radio but unfortunatetly you have to remove the radio to check.
Also locate fuse box, usualy situated in a compartment beneath facia or left/right kick panel. Check for more fuses in the enjin compartment.
Goodluck.

Phillip

all vehicles would have this problem if it's a loose connection in the main engine harness. in your vehicle if it starts just fine and while driving it cuts out and you put it in neutral and it starts up again it would be that the connection to the nuetral safety switch is either loose are the switch is malfunctioning.
