1993 Mercury Cougar - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Heater not working
Heater fan working? If so, check the coolant level and on a 3.8L you need to open the bleeder valve screw on the top of the engine when filling, to let all of the air out of the system.
Heater blower fan not working? Check the fuse, if good, check for a motor burned out.

81 Mercury Cougar Ball joint replacement.
Remove the cotter pin.
Loosen the nut most of the way, but do not remove the nut.
Use a ball joint remover, strike the tool until the ball joint separates from the frame.
Remove the nut, and drop the ball joint assembly.
Tape the threaded area of the steering side, so you can replace the new ball joint in the approximate area.
Unscrew the ball joint.
Reverse for install.
Then have your alignment done.

Where is the blower motor on a 1993 mercury cougar xr7 with a 3.8 motor
Typically you will find the blower motor on any vehicle in one of two places. Look on the passenger side fire wall. If it is not there then it is most likely one the inside under the glove box on the passenger side. Be aware that blower motors can be difficult to change depending on their location and what else must be removed to get to them.

How do i deactivate kill switch
Hi Carlos, I'm glad to help!
Carlos, if you have the 2 wire "KILL SWITCH" in the trunk then you can unplug the switch and see if it starts. If it does not start then wire the 2 wires together and se if it starts. NOTE: This is only temporary you do need to replace the switch a soon as possible because it is a safety issue. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Carlos.

I just did a tune up on my 1993 cougar and it tries to start but wont
Before you start working on ignition with a cap & wires, you get a diagram & also write #'s on both ends of ignition wires,as well as draw a picture if you have not gotten oneIf it ran before, then you put the problem in thereSeldom does a car not start with a couple wires switched, unless a 4 cylinderYou don't have anything to go by here other than you replacedsome ignition partsWas there a problem before?Never necessary to install plugs or cap etc & wires last the life of a car, 15 years or more, none of that is necessary toget it started, all preventative maintenance itemsWhat about fuel pressure at engine?

Noise when backing up
You may have a defective driveline U Joint, have them checked up on a rack by a tire shop, they work cheap or charge nothing for the inspection.
