Replaced alternator on a 90 plymouth acclaim and battery is good but alternator is not charging what could this be.

You lost the ground to field the alternator It could e grounded threw the ECM. if so, cut the ground to the alternator and ground it to the engine. Older models, you can do this because the ECM only grounds it, does not regulate it. If Jason's diagram matches yours, Cut the DG/dark green wire and ground it.

Car stalls then restarts

You need to run a fault code test on the car and do the service below. To run the test follow the instructions HEREAlso do this service.

Engine stall or RPM fluctuates at idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

tip

To fix a dancing speedometer.

There are several causes for what I have found to be a common problem with these vehicles. That problem is a speedometer that bounces around and can quit working altogether. In my case the issue was at first a wire that had been stuck to the engine block and started to short, I simply zip tied the wire onto something that was not metal and did not generate heat. The next time this happened I had to replace the part that the wire ran to. I will call this a speed sensor. The speed sensor is very easy to replace and requires only about twenty minutes if you take your time. Remove the air cleaner first. It's not actually in the way and the speed sensor can be removed with it in place but you will have much more room to work with if you take it off. There should be two bolts holding the speed sensor in, undo those and pull it out. Detach it from the wires attach the new speed sensor and re-install. Now your cruise control should work again without making the car buck and kick the whole way.
