1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager Questions & Answers
1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.8 eng won't start
Check primary voltage at ignition coil and fuel injectors, engine cranking, use a test lite, dark green wire with orange tracer. If no voltage, that comes from asd relay. Some makes and models if the computer doesn't see the cam and crank sensor signals, the computer won't ground the relay.
You need to do some testing.
Can i use gas to clean egr valve and will it work
With a (tooth) brush, wood (popsicle) stick, gasoline, and time you can make it better by scrubbing and rising , but you should use carb or throttle body cleaner on it if you want it clean. Disconnect it, scrub, soak, and rise all the carbon you can off. Dry and reassemble.
Highway Jerking
tune up,bad gas or water in it dry gas at first see what happens.if that diesnt work, its a vacuum leak or sticky throttle
Shifting problems when hot
These kinds of problems are common on the dodge mini vans, I think you will need to overhaul the trans, it has an internal fluid leak, one other thing to check is the electrical connector to the trans, make sure it is tight and has no corrosion or fluid in it, a poor connector connection can also cause these kinds of issues hot.
It cut off, but we were able to restart it. It cut off again and now it won't restart
If it's been sitting a long time with no fuel stabilizer in it, then yes, could be dirt and bad fuel causing trouble. Plus possible/likely plugged filter as well. You need to get that flushed through and add fresh/clean and new filter to start with. Perform a fuel pressure test before changing filter and if it's up to spec, keep flushing it out with old filter until done, and fresh fuel put in, then change filter.
Will not go forward
Check transmission fluid level. If low then add to top of full line. If fluid is full already, is it burnt looking or smelling? If answer is yes, replace transmission. Sorry, but not much will keep the transmission from working. If the fluid is really low then the the pump won't have enough to engage the gears. However chances are if the fluid is that low then it is burnt looking and smelling too which means that the transmission will need major repairs.
Will not go forward is transmission shot?
Tough to say. It could be a pump problem, valve body, solenoid, or a long list of other things. You won't know until someone takes the pan off and checks the internal parts.
