no 2 alarms are the same. follow the path, of the pump. using a volt meter. (pink wire)some cars, only run pump for 3 seconds key on, and cranking.so take 2 people.
yes, a bad cam sensor cause car not to start.Usually it is some type of fuel pick up problem, or fuel filter. It is possible the engine was slightly flooded, causing it to loose power. This all happened to me when i had an 1987 Corvette. One day i was driving, then it just stalled when i was on a local road. Thank god not on a freeway, cause when it stalled, the steering became locked up. But i did what the manual told me to do, if the engine has became flooded, push the accelerator to the floor and crank the engine. And that go me going again, and strait to the mechanics. It was all in fuel pick up and i need a new fuel filter.Audi Air Intakes
your replacing the piston rings? are you using a spring compressor? when you compress the rings and set the piston down in there sleeves make sure to oil the cylinders the with the rings compressed and staggered gently tap the top of the piston with the wooden handle of a hammer. when i say stagger i mean the gaps in each ring are in a different position so as not to create a bypass of pressure or oil. if you use the compressor the piston should slide into the sleeve of the cylinder
yes thats easy ,just remove the rear brake drums ,clean the lip out from where the drums have worn and then adjust the automatic adjusters with a thin screwdriver till the drums just about turn and a slight scuffing sound can be heard as drum is turned ,tap drum with a small hammer to centralise the shoes and if need be repeat the adjustment procedure.Do not adjust the cables as they dont stretch .Make sure that when you take the drums off, the handbrake levers on the shoes are right back against the shoe because a lot of cowboys just tighten the cables and call it adjusted when in actual fact you have lost a lot of leverage and you need the force times distance rule to make the handbrake work properly.quick test when its all done is three clicks on handbrake lever in cab and rear brakes should lock up at 30mph when handbrake is pulled up (jerked) good job iam not a solicitor or i would want a couple of Gs for information and evan then they never give a direct answer.
I had to fit second solenoid and took the positive feed from the carb. slow
running solenoid. The single earth wire from the power steering pump was
connected to the negative feed of the solenoid. The vacuum pipes were connected
to the AC actuator in parallel
HUH??? The electrical circuit is working and you think there is a blown fuse?
NO! there is a MECHANICAL problem with your starter like a broken bendix or a chewed-up flywheel. You need to remove your starter motor and inspect the teeth on your flywheel. Look through the starter hole and turn the engine by hand so you can inspect the teeth all the way around. I usually mark the flywheel with a marking pen before I start turning it so I can tell when I have gone all the way around. If the teeth are all in decent condition, replace the starter. If you find any broken/damaged teeth, you need to pull your transmission and replace the flywheel. (AND probably replace the starter anyway.)
I once had a Jeep with similar problems. I opened the hood in the garage and noticed electrical sparks traveling from the spark plugs to the distributer cap. I replaced the spark plug wires and distributer cap. Everything works well! RICK D
must i guess, engine cranks but not start? what?
the ckp is behind the flywheel, you pulled the engine on a wild guess? wow. why not do real diagnosis.?
http://fixkick.com/engine/20Liter/html/image_7.html
not only that no symptoms stated, just easter egg guess$ing.
i guess you want to fix a modern engine with no scan tools?
why ? why go broke guessing?
the J18 engine is easy to diagnose, DOHC, chain cam and all.
forget the DVOM,,
the CMP cam sensor, do not touch it until you match mark its side to base mount or lose, spark timing... ( takes a suzuki tool to cure that, of you loosen it and turn it willly-nillly)
first we scan it, cranking if it dont start.
then if not starting we,..
spark101. COPs" coil over plugs, (4 spark coils)
the engine has 4 COPs
we remove one, and insert a test spark plug in the cop end
then ground the shell of the spark plug, to the engine metal.
then crank engine, see that fat bright blue /white spark.
bingo good spark. (a fully charged battery works best)
then do the other 3, ok, spark tested, 4 times.
Guess 1: (examples help)
lets say #1 spark coil is dead, only
well replace it.?
or swap #2 and 1 , does the failure follow your move?
now 2 is dead, 1 is good, so #2 cop is dead
no, #1 is still dead, bad ecu, or wires to it. from this cop..
lets say all #4 cops are dead.
well its not 4 bad cop's.
end spark testing on the J18
-------------------next--------------------------------------
we then must scan the pCM.,
all J18s, j20 on up all report bad ckp /cmp sensors
even 1 pulse in 10 are reported with live DTC or in the pending section of the scan tool. (the FSM book on car tells you this fact)
there are no other way, unless you have a scope like me.
the CMP (cam) sensor has 2 single line, both fast pulses no cheap meter can view)
if spark is good?
try test fuel. yet? run for 3seconds does it.
are spark tips dry or wet with fuel.?? (no starts))
sad you didnt post the symptoms, makes answering 10x harder.
if engine misfires, and runs
say so
that takes a scan tool.
costing from $10 to $150
i use a Innova 3160 tool, for best experience used.
its do no starts
1: battery at 12..6vdc rested or more.
2: check fuses?
3: key on the cluster CEL lamp must glow, or fuses are blown and ecu will be dead, with a dead CEL lamp.
4: ok , i crank engine and it cranks fast.but will not start.
5: so, i try, instant start, spray test fuel, CRC starter, with top end oiling brand is my fav.
6: ok it runs for 3 seconds, engine sounds good, wow., engine and spark are good, all in 5min work
and is fueling issues, too much or too little
if you get here, ask , we can do fueling, but is lots of steps
and you need a fuel pressure gauge.
in all cases SCAN THE PCM first. best is to scan while its failing.
i promise.

here is the actual CMP signals, j18./20

if engine runs, nows the time to say......
as that is another long page of text full of tests.
