I have a 2004 Suzuki Forenza 04, the oil & engine light were flashing, I checked and topped up the engine oil. Still light flashes. I then did and oil change and replaced plugs.
Now there is white smoke coming from the tail pipe/exhaust. What have I done wrong or what is the problem.
Thank you
It often means that you are burning antifreeze. You asked if it needs antifreeze, have you noticed any leaking out of the reservoir tank while you are running it? Sometimes when the head gasket goes it will produce a passage for the antifreeze to pass from the capillaries into the combustion chamber. It is easy to check if you have an air compressor. Remove one of the rear sparkplugs and the radiator cap. Fill the radiator and then push some air into the sparkplug hole (get a good seal in case a valve is open). Repeat with all the cylinders and watch for air bubbles coming up into the radiator. If bubbles come up or fluid is pumped out, the head gasket is blown and must be replaced. It is more likely to happen at the back of the engine because it is farthest away from the fan and therefore gets less cooling. Also check your oil for discoloration. If it is a brownish color it could mean your oil and antifreeze are mixing and has the potential to damage your bearings

how do you check transmission fluid in 2004 Suzuki Forenza
There is no dipstick to check the automatic transmission fluid in the 2004 Suzuki Forenza. It is checked like a manual transmission. You will have to remove the fill plug underneath the car and then add some new transmission fluid until it drizzels out of the hole.

Why has my SSPS light turned on..what is the problem and how to solve it?
SPSS or Speed Sensitive Power Steering warning light.
Not something you can fix unless you know how to pull a steering column
out and have a scan tool to reset the light once the sensor is replaced.
The sensor itself is expensive ( over $200 )
You might have something wrong with your power steering. Could mean low power steering fluid if you haven't check it lately. Bad sensor like what happen to my car or things wrong with your power steering pump, control arms
The only thing that happens with a bad sensor is that you have full time power assist.
Speed Sensitive Steering reduces the amount of power assist at hwy speeds so as to give the driver better "road feel".
Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important
and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some
testimonial comment about this answer. Thank you for using FixYa.

Need firing order for 2004 forenza 2.0.also which terminal is #1 on the coil pack
Firing order is 1342 --- Order on the Coil Pack is 4,1,2,3 -- Line the plug wires up in that order starting at one end of the coil pack, if that doesn't work, start at the other end of the coil pack with the same 4,1,2,3 order. Cyl. #1 on the engine is closest to the crankshaft pulley (and all other pulleys) -- Disregard the firing order at this point, it will only add to the confusion. Stick to the 4,1,2,3 order for lining up the plug wires

Where is the crankshaft position sensor on a 2004 suzuki forenza located?
Hello Aldozer.
It is mounted below the power steering pump and behind the AC compressor(if equipped).
Both will need to be removed to access it.
Here is a pic of the engine after they are removed.
I hope this helps you towards a good repair.
Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a 2004 Suzuki Forenza I need to know where to find the plug to check the transmission fluid and the special tool needed for the plug, and if there is a filter to change.
Here's a PDF containing more information than any normal human could possibly ever need for that transmission:

Good luck, I hope this helps!

Code reads P0217. Replaced ECT Sensor two weeks ago and check engine light (CEL) went out. CEL illuminated again yesterday (10/8/13) 10 mins after engine start in the morning going 55mph slightly down a hill with outside air temp (OAT) 68 degrees. No sysmtoms before or after CEL illuminated. Temp gauge normal; A/C was On and working; Coolant levels normal; No loss of power; Radiator 2yrs old. Where should I start troubleshooting? ECT Module? Thermostate? Water Pump? A/C condenser?
need to check the plug for the ect sometimes you can buy a defected sensor

I would like to know what specifically needs to be done in order to remove the antifreeze from my car( 2004 Suzuki Forenza) in order to perform a coolant flush.
For the do-it-yourself kind of mechanic, there is a kit sold by Prestone that will help you back flush the system using an ordinary garden hose. Available at most any auto-parts store, Walmart & such. It has the basic instructions on the container but I'll give you an overview.
You will need a large container to catch the anti-freeze coming out, You could drain it by removing the plug at the bottom of the radiator first , or remove the lower hose & get most of it out & then just flush the remainder, back-flushing is recommended.
There is a piece that fits into the radiator caps position that helps to aim the water towards a container but sometimes you can't use it due to size restrictions & limitations on space & have to catch the fluid with a drain pan as it overflows.
You will need to install a backflush connector "T". You simply cut into one of the 2 heater hoses, preferably the return line, and install that piece using 2 hose clamps to secure it. The garden hose hooks there.
The engine should be cool, you can crack a head or block by drowning a hot engine with ice cold water.
Just turn the water on slowly, once the anti-freeze stops coming out & it's just water, remove the drain pan & recycle what anti-freeze you can. Remember, most anti-freeze is fatal to birds & animals, including large dogs & children, so clean spills or at least dilute it with water until it is not a threat.
once done, drain the system & refill with the mix you prefer for your area, usually not less than a 50/50.
good luck.
