If you are talking about the red display in the center of the instrument cluster then let it cool off and check it again, they were bad about fading in very hot temps, if it does not come back when cooled then the cluster will need to be replaced, and I belive only the dealer can do that due to the immobilizer (programing the keys).

What is the code you are getting? Have you checked the engines compression and all cylinders are in good shape? Do that test and get back to me.

Time to see the Audi dealer I think. One suggestion, are you using AUDI factory replacement parts?

There are couplings that hook the manifold to the exhaust.... flex pipes.. about the size of large can of soup... they allow the engine to flex when you punch the gas.... they meet on both sides right underneath the bottom of the engine.... Google "audi a6 flex pipe" you' ll see them on ebay..... its the braided part... Go anywhere but MIDAS! to have it fixed... about $225 per side... That's what my problem was...... good luck
