Misfires while driving
my problem was misfiring after 20 cool down then ran fine, due to bad exhaust O2 sensor. Also during certain driving conditions jeep would back fires/lurch/misfire and sputter. What I discovered was battery was sliding into computer wiring harness, disrupting sensor input/output signals. I place a 1" spacer on rear battery clamp to push battery forever forward and this forever cured the problem.

1997 jeep wrangler overheating
bought a used 97 jeep that apparently had the same problem and had a low temp thermostat installed in attempt to cure the problem. I noticed when draining the radiator that only 1/2 of fluid came out. I jumped up/down on bumper and dislodged sludge and other half of fluid. Flushed system twice and then noticed temp gauge was now registering low, out of specs. Placed in correct thermostat and all problems solved.

Jeep wrangler is using too much gas
I have a 4cyl 97 jeep wrangler. My fuel economy went from 75-80 miles per 1/4 tank to 55-60 miles per 1/4 tank of gas. I traced this to a bad coolant temp sensor (replace twice), and fouled O2 sensors believed caused by my self by placing too much oil on spector air filter (now wipe off excess and let dry in sun), and using carb cleaner and or gas treatment (stopped using). fuel economy went back up to 75-85 miles per 1/4 tank. (also disruption of sensor input/output signals didn't help from battery sliding into computer wiring harness, which I cured by placing a 1" spacer on rear clamp to keep battery away from computer.)

Rough idling
This problem
is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and
throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use
carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC
chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is
running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the
speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and
blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the
negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Horn blow out
The horn should be behind the grille or on one of the fenders in the engine compartment. If you unplug it and the fuse does not blow I would say the horn is done.

97 wrangler 2.5 running rich
rich,101
this is a MAP , speed density EFI fueling system,,,,
not misfiring.
in no order,
- map reads, low all the time cause rich, (low means low vacuum that is real) the ECU sees that and adds huge fueling.
- fuel pressure way too high bad PFR.
- injector leaking i do an injector leakdown test, or balance test, like the book shows. (and has 3 causes)
- front 02 sensors struck lean , forced ECU to go RICH. Any exhaust (its air sucking in) leaks, cause the 02 to go nuts or stick at 0v all the time. and RICH will happen. unplug it , get better?
we use simple tools to find this.
is vacuum at 19 inches HG at idle.? hot? sealevel #s/
???? clean the map yet?
