check this site out. its selling upgraded parts and the parts come with instructions and specs. thses are going to be one of two styles. either you need to remove the cap like you were saying or if you look at the back you may see 3-4 bolts which will allow the release of the bearing assembly. try taking a screwdriver under the lip of the cap and do thiall the way around with a hammer tapping just enough to get under the lip. if you are doing the left side, be careful as it will have left hand threads.

Check for corrosion just inside the ends of the cable going from batt+ to starter. Corrosion can build about 2" inside of the cable(not visible) the best way to tell is to take the cable off and try pulling it in opposite directions to see if it seperates.

Hope this gets you started!

you could have a bad fuel pump.you first have to extract the codes from the on board computer. This will give you an idea where to look for the problem. You could crack your fuel line to see if you have fuel going to the fuel rail.Check for spark at all the plugs by pulling the plugs and attaching the wire and check for a spark.Make sure you air filter isn't blocked. I would change the fuel pump it sounds like its starving for fuel.
