what cant you do.
is this just the alarm and car starts and drives ok.?
or engine wont start.?
the only way to fix this is to test all door switches.
ever use a meter before, volts/ohms.
if not , it be very hard to fix.

the alarm can be shut down, the operators guide answers that
using the key at the drivers door, now its off.
lost the guide?

Hi there:
Just keep in mind that the 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee called ZJ Series have the same device ans systems, so, in your 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Anti-Theft System is equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS). VTSS system monitors vehicle doors, hood, liftgate and ignition. If an attempt is made to enter or operate vehicle without proper disarming of system, vehicle horn will sound, headlights, taillights and parking lights will flash, and engine will be prevented from running.

The following wiring diagram and electronics circuit contains detail schematics of The ZL's Jeep Grand Cherokee Anti-Theft System. Here in you will find interconnection between electronics parts of the system such as body control module, auto headlamp light sensor. VTSS led, driver door module, passenger door module, cylinder lock switch, junction block, power distribution center, and grounding. Here in you will learn also how the Vehicle Theft Security System works, removal, installation, testing and troubleshooting procedures.

flush the heater core, both directions.

You have worn wire/s. They are inaccessible unless you remove the cross member and drop the transmission as far as it will go down. Then it is still difficult to repair the wire/s. You need a pinout of the plugs and just run a new wire. I don't have a 97. if I did, I would surely pass it on to you.

what job? which engine.? 3.7L SOHC, engine? or the 4.7 V8?
3.7 is just a 4. 7 with missing 2 cyl. (the engine plants in Detroit are side by side)
hacking ?(if true, i can prove it wont work what ever you are doing) ask why?)
or diagnosing them? sure can help,
the FSM book covers this, ever heard of the factory service manual. ??? aka. SM? but the Factory one is BEST !
the chapter 8 covers all this. ever inch of wires. covered.

the IAT has 2 wires, see it there, its obvious the colors.
the MAF, what maF? ) sure you meant MAP ok?)

2005 is a WK jeep,
the full manual is here

if you use the live data from the scan tool
you can see if either are reading wrong, did you?>

my guess is you meant air flow sensors in general.
there are 2 kinds, MAP and MAF
most jeeps run a MAP and not a MAF.!
if you knew how to test both you'd for sure know what is there.
In fact i always check this first. (speed density/air density systems are radically different)

there is no MAF.
the MAP measures Baro vacuum in the plenum
and the PCM has very complex tables that computer injection rates vacuum readings (air flow is calculated on this engine not measured directly with a MAF)
page 8w-30-11 and 30-16 cover both sensor wiring.

the map only measures vacuum (or in science, Baro pressure).
i have the baro to voltage reading chart for this sensor.
if you need it.
ah shucks , this guy has it...

some FSM its missing this very important chart.
grab it and keep it.

NO start, but cranks ok ! (guessing i am on that cranking bit...)
no engine size stated, so cant be ACCURATE.
wont start hot. ok cold
so when hot it fails, and when hot that is when we try to fix it or diagnose it.. not cold.
so got spark on all unstated engine cylinders?
all must work not just one
ever get a full tuneup this decade or even ever?
when it dont start, did you read the oper guide.
and do the wide open throttle , cranking, and see IF the engine unfloods? (this is feature on all EFI cars).

all cars do this ignored, all do.
service it? ever?

if spark is good, try test fuel.
if test fuel works for 3seconds, or starts and runs hot, say so now?
if test fuel fails, check spark tips for soaking in fuel or bone dry.
if soaking, , its flooded,
if flooding it is, we work flooding
ask.how, (can be many reasons. more tests... )
like that....

i offer only one guess, on all cars, all cars ignored!!
eva get a tuneup?

I would place someone in the car and get a smoke machine and trace the potential areas for your leak. Always go to the highest point. Also check your A/C drain hose, if they are get plugged the moisture will show up in the floor board of the vehicle. There is also a UV smoke that can be seen better with a black light for those hard to find leaks.

i guess, you meant , engine issues, engine cranks ok , starts then stalls right?
that is cause (most times) by the ASD relay dropping out.
is it? dropping just before the stall?
if yes, the scan tool will tell you why, there are 8 reasons...
all documented in all jeep 93+ FSM books.

does car have Immobilizer option?
if yes, that too will drop the ASD so (bad boys) cant steal it.
so if the immo light (generic name) is on or flashes before cranking or during cranking, then the IMMO is UNHAPPY.
again scan it.
if yes, IMMO did you try both key fobs, as came with new car?

if the ASD does not drop.
the that can be 50 reasons... a huge list.
major engine parts.
never had a REAL tuneup in a decade? (spark bad)
lost spark
bad engine.
bad fueling (too much flooding or too weak or none)

if engine floods?, crank with wide open throttle per operators guide.

Follow the plug leads from the engine they will lead you to the coil pack. Some packs run all the plugs and some are individual which means you will find a coil on top of each spark plug. Regards Jim...

Could be several things. Crank sensor would be my first guess. Have the codes read.

Hi Richard you need to replace the window regulator. The cables wear into the nylon guides causing this problem. Regards Jim...

What kind of problem? Is the brain bad or the box bad?

Take 2 screws out of PCM and replace with shorter ones

If you have the 4.0l inline 6 and you mean buy "cuts off" that the engine stalls at the stop light or refuses to start from time to time...this engine has a well know problem with the crank position sensor, if it is bad or the connection loose or incorrect, you will have this problem

No Crank?

This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

i cant guess what?>
if you mean how to disable per operators guide.
the alarm, its there in the guide book.
using the key at drivers door will shut it down for now.
