Location of modulator on 97 jeep grand cheereekee

It's called a governor. It is a solenoid inside the transmission. Pull the pan, it is on the passenger side. You will see 2 plugs, one is the governor solenoid, the other is the pressure sensor. I recommend you replace both.

Car repair

Have the coolant temperature sensor checked. They can go bad, causing the ECM to think the coolant temperature is extremely cold. This causes a massive amount of fuel to be sent to the fuel injectors at startup, simulating a "choke" condition. What happens then is there is too much fuel in the cylinders, the plugs fuel foul, and the engine stalls. The excess fuel is what you smell.

Interior lights will not go off

all cars have 3 ways to cause that. 1: the dimmer switch can turn the lamps on full time. its a feature seen on all cars, for 50 years. 2: or a door switch is stuck closed. up to 5 doors, or 6 if lift glass. 3: some dome lights have a lever, or you push the lens. and this turns them on, so push it off. (on , off, auto ) are the lamp levers is present. that is all ways. all 3 ways. to diagnose it, I can type a wall of text. i'm not. why not get the car serviced. or if handy with electrons, read the factory service manual it covers all that. lost the operators guide, buy one?

I have a 97 jeep grand cherokee that wont crank i have changed everything under the hood and still nothing what can i do to get it back running

fixing car guessing is very very expensive. why do that, a $10 voltmeter from walfart and bam cause . a harmless tool. lets humans see electrons, (voltage potential or drop) just like a water pressure gauge, does. zero pressure, no flow, dead. its a 97 grand so my guess its and automatic trans. no engine stated, so i cant guess the matching box, so... we do this, GENERIC. here is a no crank page (called a class 1 failure, dead starter) you cant drive car with a silent engine, DOA. first off , there can be 2 ways for a car with a good battery and starter not to crank. what are they, the park neutral switch dead, or the immoblizer. skim.skis. angry. if you had checked the starter relay first. with a meter , you'd already have cut the problem in 1/2 (saving you the cost of the other half not bad, in 5min work) using a VOLTMETER. so car will not crank jumper cable started, (all reg. folks do this first or call AAA Tow and he does it for you) ok he fails. starter is dead. still. then this car is ZJ jeep the FSM book is free, posted here 300 times now. not again. ever. search. here we go, with path checks PDC fuse 8 good. 12v both sides, ok good. now the Start relay there, 4 pins pin C6 hot all time. 12v. white wire (WT) pin c7 LG-bk wire goes hot cranked, if not forget starter bad.!!! if the relay clicks and c9 is dead, the relay is bad. (easy no?) if relay fails to click bingo , (P/N dead) pin C8 YL-RD wire is hot cranked. if is good. if not? then key switch bad. (dead start pin) pin C8 must be 0v cranked, or the Park/Neutr, switch is dead. cranking voltage can be 10 to 12v. ok. (lower in Alaska) easy no? the skim immobilizer does not cut cranking , only fuel. so dont replace that too. the real deal. my photo are large and clear but fixya wrecks them. all. 26229500-bip5kgx2huz2lads2wccxfs0-5-0.jpg

Need Radio Security code. serial number TQAAA010712826

If your lucky the code may have been written on the back of the manuel. If not and may not have been set try 0000, and if that does not work and your good with the dealer they may help you reprogram the radio free of charge since they are always disconnecting batteries.
You could always log on to www.radio-code.com and they can help you unlock your radio.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Is SAE 5W - 30 ok for my old Jeep and Cheyenne...

Its probably ok but I would recommend 10w30 for anything with more than 100,000 miles on the odometer. Also, 5w30 works better in colder temps, the first number is the "cold thickness" and the second number is the "hot thickness". The bigger the number the thicker the oil in basic terms.

How to replace fuel pump and fuel filter ?

the fuel pump is in your gas tank. make sure all of or most of the gas is out before you drop the tank. the tank is held on by two straps. once you drop it you will have to disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connections to completely separate it from the vehicle. the fuel filter is simple and is held on by two bolts. just follow your fuel line from your fuel pump and you'll find it. make sure to depressurize the fuel system before changing the filter. also make sure your battery is disconnected before changing the fuel pump.
