I recommend you get the Haynes Repair manual for your vehicle from the Local Auto Parts store. It will tell you how to set the #1 cylinder to Top Dead Center on the compression stroke and how to align the timing marks so the engine is in time like it should be.

Check enging light on 2003 Acura TLS doesn't come

There is a problem with your OBDII (Onboard Diagnostics -2) system. The only way to find out why your Check Engine light is on is to scan your engine computer and find out which part of the system is failing. There will be fault codes stored in the computer to tell you. The failing system will then need to be diagnosed to locate the actual cause of the failure. Once this is completed, the computer will have to be reset, and the car will have to be driven (sometimes for several days) to get all of the computer monitors to run and recheck the system. If the repairs are successful, the same codes should not return. You may have new codes show up however. This is because some of the monitors are unable to run if the check engine light is on due to another failure. Sometimes a code like "Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold" will show up when they were not there before. This is because driving the vehicle with the Check Engine light on has destroyed the catalytic converters, but the code could not set previously because the catalyst monitor could not run to test the catalyst when the other problem was present. Now that the first problem has been corrected, the catalyst monitor now runs and has determined that the catalyst has been damaged.

This why I tell all my customers that the best time to get your car ready for an emissions test, is the minute the Check Engine light comes on. Ignoring this light and driving the vehicle with it on can damage some pretty expensive parts, as well as possibly costing you fines for not getting your vehicle "Legal" when it is time to renew licenses, etc. I live in Missouri, and you cannot renew your license plates without passing the emissions test - people wait until the last day to renew their registration and they get angry with me when I tell them it is going to take several days and possibly even a couple weeks to get their car to pass. It's not MY fault!!! THEY are the ones who chose to ignore the warning lamp!

My 1996 acura tl 2.5L dies out when anything

Hi,
it sounds as if the power supply to the ECU is being interrupted when aother electrical items are powered up. Check the main power supply lead to the ECU using a digital test meter. Check the voltage when everything electrical is turned off, with the engine at idle, Keep the meter leads attached to the power supply to the ECU, and have an assistant turn on some electrical items, carefully observe the meter, to see if the power voltage to the ECU drops off or is interrupted. If the power drops off, then you have a starting point.

If you are confident of your electrical skills, you could make a simple test device to by-pass the normal power feed to the ECU, then power up some items and if the engine does not die, again, you have a starting point for trouble shooting. Electrical troubleshooting is a task which requires lots of patience and a logical approach to the problem.

You might also wish to check the power supply to the fuel pump for the same reasons as the above. Again, be logical and systematic, do NOT be tempted to engage in shortcuts, they are seldom worth the trouble and effort expended, and generally, you will find yourself doing twice the work for a very small return!

Good luck.

How to replace distributer cap and rotor button on

Locate the distributer cap. Mark all your spark plug wires with some tape and number system so they go back in the same position (on the new cap). Remove the spark plug wires from the old cap (after marking them) and lay them to the side. Remove the 2 Torx or Phillips screws from the cap. Lift the cap up and off. The rotor will be directly under the cap. Lift it up and off. This may take a little rocking motion while pulling on it to get it off. Align the new rotor on the shaft and push it on firmly. Place the new cap on and install the 2 screws removed earlier. Install the plug wires on the cap in the order they come off. Ensure the wires are pushed in firmly.

The TCS light came on

The TCS stands for Traction Control System, I believe. The TCS is controlled by inputs from the wheel speed sensors. If you have a bad sensor, then a new hub may be required to repair it.

The check engine light may be a sepawrate problem. Have the codes scanned for both the Anti lock braking sytem, TCS, and the check engine light.

Sometimes it will require a separate scanner for the TCS/ABS vs. the Check Engine light.

Good luck on this diagnosis and repair.
