Power steering pump low on fluid .

First check your battery. Make sure it is good, charged and the terminals are clean and making good contact. How old is the battery? It you do not have a battery charger, take the battery out and have your local auto parts store or the store where you purchased the battery to charge and test it. They usually do this at no cost.

Either the alternator is not being energized with the key on, or the main wire from the alternator to the battery/starter is bad. Have you checked output on the back of the alternator with the engine running ?

Look about the drivers seat and you will see a small round grill, it is the interior temp sensor. This might be your problem.

Only two things left. The controller and wiring. Do you know how to use a volt/ohm meter?

On a vehicle that old,IF that is the original trans, just pull it & rebuild it Not worth even diagnosing anything, until you have a good unit & all the updates done & all new solenoids

check the fuse then the bulbs to see if they are good you might have to replace them

If you are talking about the 4x4 make sure the vacume hose to the actuater and the vacume switch on the trany is working properly it is located on the drivers side of the transfercase on the top with three vac lines comming from it.

Transmission is worn out,most likely needs to be rebuilt

check for a dead short in the circuit immediately after the fuse or a failed relay / module in the circuit.
