You need to find the source of the oil leak and repair it.

It is possible to swap the 3.2 V-6 for the 5.7 V-8 from the 2004-2007 CTS-V (or Z-6 Corvette). You will need to swap out the engine cradle and you will need to use the 6 speed manual transmission that goes with the V-8 and the exhaust manifolds. You will most likely need to swap the PCM and the rear end too. Also keep in mind that the resale value of your heavily modified CTS will be greatly decreased. It would be far easier and cheaper to just trade your CTS for a CTS-V. Consider purchasing warranted rebuilt cylinder heads from "Cylinder Heads International" for $275.00 each with free return shipping of your cores. If you choose to do the work yourself get a library card which will allow you to free online access to Haynes or Chilton's repair manuals. Or for $27.00 get a one year subscription to "All Data" which has expanded information. Any of the above will have the timing spec's. Don't make the mistake I made trying to do it without borrowing or buying the tool for that purpose.

Timing Belt & Sprockets Removal & Installation 3.2L Engine To Remove:
TDC compression stroke timing marks

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Timing belt cover
   • Crankshaft damper
3. Rotate the crankshaft in the engine rotation direction, clockwise using the J 42098 or other suitable tool until the # 1 cylinder is at Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke. The reference marks on the camshaft gears should be aligned with the corresponding notches on the rear timing belt cover, as well as the mark on the crankshaft sprocket and oil pump housing. Timing marks 60 degrees from TDC
   
   
4. Rotate the crankshaft counter clockwise using the J 42098 or other suitable tool until 60 degrees Before Top Dead Center (BTDC). The 60 degrees BTDC point can be identified by the index mark on the oil pump cover. Using the J 42069-10 or other suitable tool
   
   
5. Install the J 42069-10 or other suitable tool to the crankshaft sprocket with the knurled bolt.
6. Rotate the crankshaft in the engine rotational direction, clockwise using the J 42098 until the lever of the J 42069-10 or other suitable tool firmly contacts the water pump pulley flange. The # 1 cylinder is at TDC at this point.
7. Secure the moveable lever of the tool to the water pump pulley flange. Tools in cam gears
   
   
8. Install the J 42069-1 and the J 42069-2 or other suitable tools to the camshaft gears. If the J 42069-1 or the J 42069-2 or other suitable tools do not fit into the teeth of the camshaft gears, it may be necessary to loosen the upper idler pulley and turn the eccentric or camshaft gears until the tool can be inserted.
9. Loosen the timing belt tensioner nut.
10. Loosen the upper idler pulley bolt.
11. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Lower idler pulley bolt
    • Lower idler pulley and spacer
    • J 42069-10 or other suitable tool from the crankshaft sprocket WARNING
      After timing belt is removed, never turn camshaft and crankshaft independently. Do not remove J 42069-1 and the J 42069-2 or other suitable tools while the belt is removed.

It comes on when you need to stop and check the oil. Check oil or oil level and oil pressure. It means something is wrong and probably going to cost you a lot of money.

You have a dirty oil filter not keeping the clean oil you just put in clean. Not good for your engine.

Please check the fuse blocks under the rear seat.

The fuel sender is in the gas tank. If the gauge stays on empty then the sender may be bad . If the gauge reads anything else the wire between the sender and gauge is open. A bad sender can also give the same indication.

The key was stuck in my 2004 CTS 3.6L. The key would turn to "start", but wouldn't turn over or start. It would not turn all the way to off, so the key could be removed. First of all, there is a small hole in the under the steering column, in line with the key. Stick a really small screwdriver or rod straight up in there, and the key can be rotated and removed. It's the Engine control module which controls how the engine srtarts and runs. You can order them Online or get them at auto stores (or they can order them for you).
