2003 CR-V Throttle Position Sensor replacement

I used a code reader to find the problem, purchased the sensor, and now I am discovering that it will mean removing the throttle body? I can do it but I want to be sure that is the problem before I start.I have read that- TP sensor is often missdiagnosed, throttle body has to be replaced (can't remove the TP sensor), and that it may be a loose/dirty conection. The idle is irregular, the rpm's are up too high at times, loss of power.........any feedback would be helpfull at this point. I have even been told that I may just need to clean the throttle body out due to possible fuel contamination. Please help...eager to get started on something!

Try cleaning the IAC (Idle Air Control valve.) by buying spray carb cleaner and removing the air cduct from the engine. On the fuel system side look into the hole and try to locate 2 holes on the side . With the engine running at about 1200 rpms, spray about 10 seconds worth of cleaner at the 2 holes. Turn the engine off. Let the cleaner soak. Then repeat procedure. The IAC can also be removed and cleaned if you wish.

no buzzer or bell for headlights being left on

Trying to find out if my 2003 Honda CR-V has a bell or buzzer that sounds when you turn off car and forget to turn the lights off. My car does not do this and the battery has been run down twice now because the lights were inadvertently left on. Any help in trying to figure out why would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem -- my interior lights would not come on when I opened my driver's door, plus I wouldn't get a warning if I left the key in the ignition or the headlights on.

There is a switch covered with rubber on the door post. I removed the switch, sprayed just a slight amount of contact cleaner, made sure the switch worked by grounding it to the frame and pressing the switch in & out a couple of times. Then I carefully replaced it.

I attributed the problem to my seat belt buckle hitting the switch as I closed the door without checking to see if the seat belt had retracted properly.

Hope this is of some help.

Replace Timing Chain for 2003 Honda CRV?

Should I replace the timing chain on my 2003 Honda CRV as preventative maintenance? Two Honda techs have given me different answers. One says yes, the other says Honda doesn't call for it, that they expect the chain to last the life of the vehicle. Who do I believe?

Rule of thumb this is a timeing belt and it should be changed every 75,000 mile as a general practice. I hope this helps, dont forget to rate my answer, thanks

Without driving the vehicle, it is hard to say for sure. However, there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that is published by Honda that involves your transmission limiter tabs (part of the rear transmission mount) causing a vibration while accelerating.
The TSB number is 04-070. I can send you a complete copy of the TSB if you want to post an email address. Or you can also probably get your local dealer to print you out a copy if you don't want your email address posted online. (recommended)

where is the knock sensor located on a 2003 honda crv engine

Just done this on a 2002 (mk2) CR-V with 2 litre ivtec petrol engine. The knock sensor is screwed into the engine block underneath the inlet manifold. The best access to it is by removing the inlet manifold but this takes time. I replaced it from below by:

1) remove the undertray that is fastened to the front bumper, to do this its two bolts and lots of plastic rivets - lever the centre pins out of the rivets and they will come out.
2) from underneath the car you can now see the knock sensor in the centre of the engine block, it has a 27mm AF hex and a cable going to it.
3) disconnect the cable from the knock sensor, it has a latch on the plug that needs to be pressed, if like me you can't reach to press the latch don't worry move on to the next step.
4) Get a large 27mm open end spanner and undo the knock sensor, if you wern't able to disconnect the cable in the previous step it is possible to take the sensor all the way out of the block with the cable still attached. It is then much easier to unlatch the cable.
5) to refit the new one you need small hands or better access - there is a plastic clip holding a cable to the engine on the left hand side of the engine I found that by removing this clip (a single 10mm bolt) I could move the bundle of cables and get better access to refit and connect the new knock sensor.
6) Fit the new knock sensor into the block, tighten it to the recommended torque (can't get a torque wrench in so just nip it up, do not overtighten).
7)reconnect the cable.
8) refasten the cable clip holding the bundle of cables you removed to get access.
9) refit undertray.
10) I don't have a code reset device and the check engine light was still on after this work but it went out after three complete engine cold, hot, cold cycles. and has stayed out since.

honda crv 2003 brake light fuse

where is it located

Answer

For a 2003 Honda CRV, disconnect the horn fuse (#7), located in the under hood fuse box. This will also kill the rear lights. My underhood fuse box did not match glvenu's pic above, didn't have the 2 fuses circled together. The #7 fuse in my CR-V is located below the single fuse circled in the pic above.
