Tranny, linkage or ???
clutch, and check clutch cable linkage. Make sure there ain't no or very little slack in the clutch cable. It dies because the clutch is still engaged with the flywheel. Car won't move in any gear because the clutch prolly needs to be changed.

Car goes into gear when idling but will not move
sounds like total lost of engine power, or the brakes are frozen in ice.
if you can push car by and with brakes off , is the engine bad.
the clutch is not bad, if you stall any engine.
so what engine,, they use many on Acura's
cant fix the engine or know EFI with out that fact.
Generic.
lost compression on any or all cylinders.
bad fueling. (lost fuel pressure)
its most likely not spark if it idles nice, but doing the 60k tuneup
is real good idea now that it dont run ,now.
old sparks can work with lose speed then under load misfire.

Overdrive is kicking in to soon
it can, in fact newer cars do it even more.. .saves fuel....
if fact new cars have fast 1 to 4 gear jump, (no load) MPG feature.
what is it doing and when, and under what loads?????
do you mean downshifting too soon?
OD is top gear. and TCC is torque converter lockup
down shifting happens 3 ways
1: you do it. shifter.
2: low vacuum this is the Load sense, hills cause low vacuum and it down shifts.
3: TV, this is throttle valve , sensed, you stab throttle to pass.
aka; detent, TV. passing gear.
on some cars there is an OD switch to cut out OD, say pulling trailer
pulling any heavy load, may case the OD to hunt, or the TCC to hunt
and is a real pain....
btw the FSM covers all 100 A/T issues, up shifts, down, slips. flare, early ,late. ... its complex device, tend to not own them.

I have an 87 acura
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. There are other parts that control the temperature of the vehicle. The most common problem is the thermostat, followed by the water pump. We know it is not the coolant fluid. Make sure the fans are working properly and the radiator as well. Thanks for using FixYa and have a good night.

What tools to use to remove front struts on 87 acura integra
1) Jack up the ront part of the car and support it with safety stands.
2) Remove the brake hose clamp bolt.
3)Use floor jack to support the lower control arm. You can place the jack under the ball joint. This is very important. You need to have the jack under the ball joint otherwise force of the torsion bar will jump and cause injury.
4) Remove the self-locking bolt on the knuckle. Slowly lower the jack to remove the strut from the knuckle.
5) Remove two self locking nuts from the upper part of the strut.
) Remove the strut ( front damper) from the car.

I HAVE AN 87 ACURA INTEGRA.I WONT GO OVER 30 MPH
If one of the sensor goes bad, you will see PGM-FI check engine light would come on.
The normal fuel pressure for this car is between 36 to 41 psi.
Check for pinched or clogged fuel return hose or piping.
Check the fuel pressure changes by removing the vacuum tube on the top of the fuel pressure regulator and next check the pressure this time with pinching on the return hose that is attached to the pressure regulator.
You will need to put a shop towel over the return hose and use pliers.
If no change in the pressure reading, replace the fuel pressure regulator.

INTEGRA 87 FSM, EMISSION TEST FAILS WHEN ENGINE IS
Is the check engine light ( PGM-FI ) light on the dashboard came on?
There is a ECU ( computer ) under the passenger seat.
Count the number of red LED light flashing.
Usually it is the oxygen sensor problem if you see 1 light flashing.
If there is not check engine light, do tune up and if that does not fix the problem, check the catalytic converter.

Fix seatbelt
It may not be what you want to hear but the easiest solution is to replace it. It could be a very difficult thing to do in trying to fix your old one. Hope this helps you.
