The check engine light is on, the ABS, and the traction control light are on. I went and had it put on the diagnostic machine at autozone, the following codes came up P1700 and U2108(twice) autozone could not tell what they were said dealer codes. Does anyone know what these codes are and what to do? At autozone I had the codes reset but the check engine light would come back on.
The P1700 is just a request for the check engine light, and this is caused by the U2108. The U2108 is basically telling you that the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM) is not communicating with the powertrain control module, or the transmission control module.
The very first thing we must do is verify that the fuses that power the ebtcm are not blown and that they are powered. At this point I would like you to verify that the fuse labeled ABS in the fuse block is not blown and that it is powered with the key in the on position.
I would also like you to verify that the fuse labeled V1 inthe power distribution box is not burnt and that this is powered also. After this we need to move to the ebtcm to verify that you have voltage at pins 15,17,18 and that you have a ground at 19 and 16.
This would verify that the ebtcm is getting the proper voltage supplies to operate. The end result of this may possibly be a faulty ebtcm, but at this point we really need to check these items prior.Feel free to contact me with any questions at this point! Thanks!

battery drain in 2000 Cadillac Catera
Disconnect one battery terminal (+ or -) but not both and place a large lamp like a headlamp (12v) in series with the battery terminal that is disconnected and the terminal that you removed. If the lamp lights, you are getting a phantom power drain. If the lamp lights dim, place a smaller lamp like a signal light; 5 or 10 watts or so. If you have an ammeter, use that instead as long as you can read it from the fuse area as you go through this process.
Go to the fuse panel and in order, remove the fuses one by one. When you remove a fuse, and the lamp stays lit, put the same fuse right back. Keep going through all the fuses until you find one that shuts the test light off. When you find the fuse that causes the problem, the circuit that is fed off that fuse is causing the problem. I had same issue and no circuit raised its head.
It is normal for the car to draw about 20 to 50mA which keeps the clock and other presets alive and allows the body computer to accept signals from the remote door lock. This is very little current for a car battery.
On the 00, 01, there is a multifunction relay located (in my 01 anyway) above the fuse area in behind the dash, it's a grey box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. In it there are 4 or 5 relays, one of them monitors battery voltage when the vehicle is shut off. When battery voltage drops below a predetermined voltage, the relay kills the power saving the battery for effective start.
I repaired my multifunction relay board by re soldering all the traces on the PC board. The relay box is about $80 (dealer) if you don't want to tackle this. After I repaired the MF relay box, my trunk worked everytime, sunroof, radio and fuel door. And best of all, my battery drain problem disappeared. Its been 2 years now.

what does the "leveling" light in the dash mean in my 2000 cadillac catera. why is it on and how do i fix it. put new rear shocks in it and now it stays on all the time.
What the leveling system is is basically a height sensor for the rear height, air shocks, an air compressor and air lines. What happens is the height sensor knows what is considered a normal ride height. When people or items are added at the rear seat or trunk the vehicle sits lower. The air compressor will turn on and attempt to pump up the air shocks to raise the height to normal again so the rear end doesn't bottom out.
What can happen is the compressor fails to turn on due to a blown fuse, faulty compressor or defective height sensor. If the compressor turns on the shocks might not be able to pump up due to a line leak or air shock leak.
If you are able to look at the lines or shocks you might find a problem. Otherwise going to your mechanic and have him/her inspect the system to see what the problem might be and then deside if you want to fix it or have them do the repair. Because the light turns on periodically and goes out I would suspect a leak somewhere.

1998 cadillac catera code p0411
replaced air pump, replaced air
injection relay, cleared code
four days later check engine light, came on again, code p0411
It is the secondary air injection system. There are only a few things
it could be:
The secondary air injection pump
The air check valve.
The air control valve
Any of the vacuum connection leading to the air control valve.
O2 sensors (although unlikely, they usually throw a code on their own)
The pump is located on the bottom of the driver's side front fenderwall.
It has a hose leading up to the air control valve. This valve is
mounted to the fan on the radiator. The valve has 2 or 3 vacuum ports
on it. Make sure each port is plugged in, and that the port that it
leads to (I beleive they all go to the air intake setup near the
throttle body) is connected as well.
The secondary air injection system is purely an emissions device. It
injects air into the exhaust manifold when the car first starts and when it's
been idling for more than a minute. The newly introduced air causes the O2 sensors to run lean. If the computer does not see a lean condition
it causes the P0411 code. This is why it could (but probably isn't) bad O2's. I
think it usually throws the code after 4 or 5 missed readings..usually a
day or 2 after the code is reset (with normal driving).
If it were me I would do the following in this order:
1. Check the connections to the Air control valve, which is bolted onto
the radiator fan between the radiator and the throttel body (slighty off
center towards the driver's side).
2. Check the hose going from the AIR pump to the Air control valve to be
sure it's connected.
3. Verify that the AIR pump is operational (either by hooking current up
to it or waiting for it to come on). They sometimes may **** in water,
as they are located towards the bottom of the car - this kills them.
4. Replace either the air control valve or the air pump, depending on
how your tests go. They are relatively expensive, but won't totally
break the bank.

My radio, trunk and fuel door all work sometimes. Where is the Multifunction relay? I believe the part# 90494163 It is a 2000 Catera Cadillac. Thanks
K134 Multifunction relay is under the dash on the driver side. When sitting in driver seat, above your left ankle, it is located behind a cardboard panel. Replacing cures many problems with the Bose radio, sunroof, gas and trunk releases, fog lights.

Car: 2000 Cadillac Catera Radio: Bose Info: Power goes off to radio, fuel door and trunk release. Seems to happen randomly. Any thoughts?
K134 Multifunction relay is on the driver side, inside the dash above the driver's left ankle (area). (2) panels need to be removed below the steering column to access this area. The first is a panel that matches your dash. The second is a cardboard panel with foam padding on it that encompasses the arms holding the brake pedal and accelerator. You'll then need to lay on your back on the floor board, head in first. Look for a gray box about 3" square by 1 1/2" thick. Push it 'up' off of it's mounting bracket to release. Unplug the wiring harness. Plug in new relay and re-mount.

I have a 2000 cadillac catera my radio, maplight, high beam light, heated seats, and onstar does not work when I start the engine. when I turn it off they work until I open the door. PLEASE HELP
Did you recently have a loss of power to the car? change the battery? if so, you need to reset your system. My husband and I just figured this out this weekend. His sunroof hasn't worked in two years and it turns out you have to reset all the power options in the car. Google 2000 cadillac catera %calibrate ETC% loss of power, you'll find the step by step instructions for recalibrating the car's computer and resetting the power options

I drive a 2000 cadillac catera and when I shut the car off, when i turn the car back on, none of the controls for the radio, sometimes the trunk lock button, fuel tank door button will work. Then after I've been driving for awhile all the controls start working again.
K134 Multifunction relay.

2000 cadilac catera po411 secondary air flow
This is a code related to the air flow from the air pump (aka pollution pump) into your exhaust system. This air pump takes outside air and injects it in the exhaust stream after the engine to help burn off any residual fuel or pollutants. When P0411 comes up, the control module detects a lack of air flow either caused by a defective air pump, leaking/clogged air hoses, or bad check valves.
