1991 jeep wont start
Did you replace the coil because it wouldn't start before? If it ran before, there must be a mis-connection somewhere. I assume by your stating that 'it turns but will not crank', to mean that the engine will crank over with the starter but won't start and run. True?

91 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, 2WD won't engage, 4WD is fine!
It sounds like your driveline to the rear wheels is broken. Could be transfer case output shaft to the rear wheels has broken. Try disconnecting the rear drive shaft and see if you can turn it by hand with the transfer case engaged in 2WD. If you can turn it while the Sahara is in gear, the output shaft is no longer connected to the engine for some reason.

'00 TJ brake and 4way lights not working
Check the brake switch on the brake pedal for your brake light prob. There are 2 wires on the switch, one is 12 volts and the other gets 12 volts when you step on the brake pedal. You can check tis with a test light.

1988 Jeep Wrangler wont start.
Try your camshaft possition sensor. If it is the same as my problem I just had to replace that and it started right up. Oh and mine was built into the distributer assembly. Take off cap and pin it's the plastic thing at the bottom. Should just pop out and you have to go to the dealer to get the part. Hopefully this helps!

91jeep clutch quick pedal loss, barely shifts
Look inside the vehicle at the firewall where the clutch pedal rod goes into the master cylinder. See if there is fluid running down the inside firewall. Next look at the bottom of the bellhousing to see if fluid has been coming out of it. That will tell you if it's the master or slave cylinder. Most likely it is the slave leaking inside the transmission bellhousing.

Where to look for the short that keeps blowing the fuse
There are a bunch of places it could be. Look for anywhere the wires go over, around or under the frame, trans bell housing. It could be a component that is bad causing a short also. I would look for a bad wire short to ground though as this is the most likely cause.

Jeep TJ Wrangler Outer door handle removal
The handle is held in place by two vertical wedges on both sides of the handle. To remove just force the wedges up with a hammer and screwdriver (be careful of the glass). Putting them back in is very difficult. I would suggest making the bends or adjustments with it installed so you'll know exactly how much you need. I hope this helps.

Problems
yes, it has a computer. Have him clear the codes and then begin again. while working, he is likely setting nonsense codes by connecting/disconnecting various sensors.By now, he's likely reading every code in the book. Before changing the computer, he needs to check all grounds etc. bad signals going in will influence what the computer reads and stores. If any of the people you know have a shop they recommend, you might consider using them instead. It sounds a bit like the tech working on your vehicle is lost, or you are not understanding what he is telling you. Computers can go bad, but more often than not it turns out to be a problem elsewhere.

"maintenance required" light is stuck on in 1991 Jeep Wrangler
On the dim dashlights, there is usually a rotory switch that you can turn to increase the power to the dash lights. In earlier vehicles it was part of the headlight switch and you just turned it one way or the other to adjust the brightness. In newer vehicles it is a switch like a knob sticking out of the dash on its side that you push up or down to change the brightness of the lamps.
The Maintenance Required light is probable on because the vehicle has hit the 50,000 mile mark and it comes on automatically so that you take the vehicle in for maint. of the emission system. If this is the case there is usually a way to reset it untill another 50,000 miles go by. I would read the owners manual, or better yet pickup a Chilton manual for the vehicle and see if it says how to reset the light. You also may want to have the vehicle checked to see if any trouble codes have been signaled. Good Luck, RAC
