1989 volvo 740 gl. Put new starter in, now it
i cannot remember but i think there is a starter relay, its located in the engine bay the wire color is the same as its is on the starter motor, and feeds back to the relay, in the relay box in engine bay if this model dont have the relay as some models did not have it fitted and it was a straight from the ignition it can cross over on the ignition switch, and that would need to be replaced, or changed to button press, were by cutting the wire on the starter wire on the ignition and feeding it to a switch button.
My cooling radiator fan from not coming on
check the coolant temp sender switch , number 4 on the schematic , as a start , check the top and bottom hoses are very hot if not then could be the thermostat not opening or the water pump not working but with the waterpump you would also be losing coolant so check coolant level, hope this is of help
1989 volvo749 wont start problem with automatic gear shift
If it won't crank, it can be the lever position sensor. Try cranking in N, and if that does not work, try moving the lever from R through the other selections to L while trying to crank it over. If that has an effect, you may need a new switch or the current switch cleaned and adjusted.
The switch is supposed to lock out the starter motor in all positions save P and N so you don't start in a driven gear by mistake.
Does petrol tank leaks when overfilled i fillled
Yep,breather is necessary.Breather line is draining it under the car, less dangerous.Do not feel it to the top.Replace the draining line,dust/water may find a way into the tank, later u'll have to deal it (fuel filter, cloged fuel lines, fuel pump malfunction, fuel gauge malfunction).Track the problem eliminate the hipoteses of a cracked tank, loosed fuel pump.Cheers.
Temperature gauge stuck
1) Coolant sensor connections broken - this is the first one under number 4 cylinder, intake side. Coolant temp sensor could be faulty. Test by unplugging sensor, connect a 68 ohm resistor to one of the terminals and ground it to the block. Meter should read 3/4 to max. You might need to probe either wire for the correct one. If the gauge works, the sensor is faulty.2) If the gauge doesn't work, then either the gauge or its circuit is open - the gauges are wirewounds, so they seldom fail.
My 1988 740gle crank but want stay cranked
Hi,if your car cranks over slowly then clicks,it could be your battery not having enough power to turn over the starter motor(switch headlamps on then crank it over,if the lights go dim then your battery is almost flat)if thats ok then the problem could be the ignition switch,(try wiggling the key as you try to crank)
