Was the noise there prior to the repairs you had done? If yes check your wheel bearings. If loose it is possible that the rotor may contact the caliper bracket making a grinding noise.
Civic hard to start, and when started shuts off
Try this first, and lets see what happens. Turn key to on, but not start, then off. do that about four or five times, then try to start. See if it starts, runs, then dies. Let me know. Have you had fuel pressure tested at all? If it doesn't start and run for a short while at least, take air intake hose off at throttle body intake, open throttle and spray a good shot of WD-40 into throttle body, then try to start. If it starts, you have a fuel delivery problem, maybe fuel pump or plugged filter would be first to check. Just because you hear the pump, doesn't necessarily mean it's getting proper pressure to run. Let me know what happens when you try this, and we'll go from there.

93 civic. Turn key all instrument light ,
Bad ground. Check the battery terminals. The amount of juice required to turn over engine is not getting through, where as the radio draws much less juice. Also, once all connections are cleaned, positive & ground at the battery and fram and the hot at the starter (best to do prior to snow fall anyway), you should be good to go. If not, turn on the interior dome light and try to start it. If it doesn't start, have your battery tested. Finally, if all is good, you should have the alternator tested as well. Most auto parts stores will provide that for free!

Overheating Honda
FIRST OFF,YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF,IS IT OVERHEATING OR COULD IT BE A FALSE READING ON THE DASH.JIM
Passed 25 mph emission test
When was your last tune up? I mean new plugs wires and distributer cap. have you had the throttle body cleaned if not that will need to be done as well. The cleaning is not hard or expensive but it cleans all the build up off the throttle body. Catylytic converter may also be plugged. What I would do before your test is to run the car, get it good and hot and run it down the highway while holding the gas pedal to the floor several times to get the old carbon burnt out of the exhaust system, this old carbon in the system can cause high PPM readings for the hydrocarbons. Which simply means your engine is either not getting hot enough to keep the build up cleaned out, or your not burning fuel effeciantly causing a build up. If your getting no trouble codes or lights then the chances of an electrical system malfunction are minimal. There is also the possiblity that your engine needs some valve work done if the fuel is not getting burnt properly but if you get it good and hot and run all the old carbon out of the system you have a good chance at passing the test.
I have a 1993 honda civic, it turns over but , no spark
When it's hot inside your car it causes a solder joint on a little circuit board in your Main/Fuel Relay to loose contact. The MAIN RELAY is up above your gas pedal near the cruise control computer. Almost directly behind the dash vent. It will be a gray or black box with a plug of wires connected to it. Use a 10mm socket (with extensions to reach). Bring it into view and tap the Relay, "Plastic Box", while someone tries to start the car. If you can bring it down into better view you can tap it and start the car if you're flexible.
TO FIX THE PROBLEM: Don't buy a new one, just pry the cover off of it with a flat head screwdriver and look close where all the sharp pins are sticking up on the board to find the broken solder connection(s). Heat the faulty pin with a soldering iron until the solder puddles around it and your good to go. The crack in the solder will be smaller than a human hair, look close & wiggle it and you'll see the loose connection. There is usually no need to add solder, what is there is enough, it just needs melted again. Works every time on the Accord, Prelude, Civic and Integra.
Bent valve
cheapest thing to do is call around to junkyards, or look them up on the web, until you find a used honda head which matches your engine. the junkyard will know what will match. try and find about the same mileage. get yourself a repair manual on CD for about 5 bucks on eBay, a new head gasket kit, case of beer, good tool selection, well lighted garage, and you are good to go.
I have 1993 model honda
1. replace your spark plugs
2. are your still running on carburetor? if yes, have it cleaned and check if the air/fuel ratio is correct.
The car wont start, an
First off you need to be for sure that it is a fuel related problem before you start to go and change any more parts out. An engine needs 2 things to start/run that is fuel and spark to your spark plugs. When the engine will not start do some test as to see what is not happening and go from there. A couple of questions and one is, is your vehicle fuel injected. I ask because depending where your vehicle was built in and around that year they were both. If it is fuel injected does it seem to only start when the temprture is cooler outside. I know that sounds strange but I have been in this business for a long time and Honda in thier fuel injected models had a relay called the PGMFI relay. In a number of cases I have found these relays to go bad and when they started, when it was hot outside the vehicle wouldn't start until the temp cooled down out side. Odd I know but it is common in that time era for Honda's. If it's not F.I. then I just wasted your time reading but thought I would throw that out. If you have any questions feel free to email me at
[email protected] and I will do my best to answer it for you. Best bet is to find out where the problem is and narrow it down from there. I hope this helps a little anyway but had to say something before you kept buying parts for nothing. Good luck.
We have a '93 honda civic 4 door. Sometimes it
that is a muffler shop where they get paid commissions based on parts sold. go to a real mechanic, he should be able to quickly identify whether you have a fuel supply OR spark problem so as to minimize replacing good parts and head scratching! fuel pressure can be tested, so can fuel pumps.
